The Cure

After the entire east coast of the United states is infected with the "zombie virus." Laurent, the scientist fights to save mankind. So far, he saved a mother and her son.
The woman and her son have been living with him.

" What's your name?" Laurent asked.
" My name is April. And this is my son, Junior. "
" Nice to meet you. Since you're going to be staying here, I have rules. One, curfew is at 7pm. Two, do as I say. And three, stay out of my basement. Understand? " Laurent explained.
" What's in the basement? " April asked.
" That's my business. You follow the rules and all will be well for you and Junior. " Laurent replied.

Laurent showed them their room. When 7 pm arrived. The doors and windows were covered by steel. Laurent demanded April and Junior to sleep in the tub. He also gave April a gun. As they rested in the tub. Loud, aggressive screams of the undead covered the streets.

At 6am, the sun began to rise over New York City. Laurent was exercising. As April and Junior left the bathroom, they heard a bang.

" Mommy." Junior cried and grabbed April's arm.

April gripped Junior's hand and ran downstairs.

" Laurent! " April yelled.

She got no response. April started to panic. April found Laurent in the living room; doing push ups.

" Didn't you hear me calling you? " April said and put her gun on the table.
" No. What?" Laurent answered.
" We heard a bang coming from downstairs. What was that?" April asked.
" Don't worry about it." Laurent said.
" Don't worry about it? What are you up to? If you want me to trust you, you need to be honest with me." April yelled.

They heard the bang sound again. Laurent looked at April and said,

" You're right. Come with me. "

Laurent led April and Junior into the basement.

" Welcome to my laboratory. " Laurent said.

In one corner of the room, there was a huge curtain.

"Are you a doctor?" April asked.
" No, I'm a scientist."

Junior pointed to pictures on the desk and asked,

" Who is this?"
" That's my wife, Jessica and my son, Nick. " Laurent replied.
" What happened to them?" April asked.
" Jessica infected my son. I was forced to kill both of them." Laurent answered.
" I'm sorry." April said.
" It's okay. GET AWAY FROM THE CURTAIN!" Laurent yelled at Junior.
" Hey! Don't talk to my son that way!" April demanded Laurent.

Laurent shook his head, approached Junior and asked,

" You want to see what's behind the curtain? "
" Yeah!" Junior curiously said.

Laurent pulled the curtains apart to reveal a zombie in a bulletproof glass cage. April and Junior jumped and screamed in fear. Junior cried and ran upstairs.

" Have you lost your mind! " April yelled.
" Kind of." Laurent replied with a straight face.

The zombie was hissing and growling.
" How did you...capture...a zombie?" April asked not really wanting the answer.

Laurent asked April to sit down.

" After I killed my family, my brother; Larry and I made a run for the car. The car was jumped by several zombies. After we shot all the zombies off the car. The car wouldn't start. So, we went back into the house. While we boarded up the windows and doors, Larry collapsed to the floor. I found a bite mark on his arm. I quickly dragged Larry into the basement and locked him away. I became fearful when I realized I was bit too. But the next day, I hadn't turned into a zombie. However,  Larry changed. Since then, I've been trying to create a vaccine or a cure to save him." Laurent explained.
" Oh my god. Wait a minute...that's your brother, Larry in the cage?" April questioned.
" Yeah, he's my twin brother. I just don't understand why I'm immune to the virus and Larry isn't." Laurent replied. 
" That is strange. So, why do you still have him here? Why not just kill him?" April asked.
" Because I believe I can create a vaccine or a cure. I want to save Larry. I've learned so much from him so far." Laurent mentioned.
" Like what?" April asked.
" Well, look at his eyes. See how the iris is white. That means he's blind. However, his other senses are now keen. Such as hearing. Watch." Laurent explained.
