This scene provides an explanation as to why Laurent received a check and Larry didn't.
After les twins auditioned for Dr. Dre, Dr. Dre asked Roy,
"Which one is Laurent?"
"On the left." Roy answered and pointed.
"Laurent! Come here." Dr. Dre called out.
Laurent looked at Larry. Larry gave him a look to go. When Laurent approached dr.dre, dre said,
"I want to ask you something and I hope it doesn't offend you."
"Yes, I am gay." Laurent assumed.
"No, no, no. I know that. What I mean is I really like your rap flow and I want you on the track." Dr. Dre explained.
"Thank you Larry and I are so happy to be working with you." Laurent said.
"No, I just want you on the track. Not Larry. Do you understand?" Dr. Dre further explained.
"But why?" Laurent sadly asked.
"Don't get me wrong. You both can rap. But you got that monster flow that I need to bring this track to find. You got that special something I need." Dr. Dre replied.
"We're a package deal. It's either both of us or none of us." Laurent said getting a bit upset.
"Please, don't take this personal. I'm not trying to come in between you two. It's just business." Dr. Dre replied.
"You need to negotiate with Roy." Laurent said and walked away from Dr. Dre.
Dr.dre told Roy about his offer to Laurent. When Laurent told Larry about dr. Dre's offer, Larry got mad and said,
"No, you are not doing this without me."
"That's what I told him, babe. I don't want to do this without you. We're a team." Laurent replied and caressed Larry cheek.
Larry smiled and approached Roy and Dr. Dre. Roy made the final decision for Laurent to do the track. Larry was mad. Larry went to the mini bar to have a drink. Dr. Dre assured Larry that he would get credit. However, because Laurent did the track solely, he decided to only pay Laurent.
