Savannah's POV
Finally, school ended and Mackenzie agreed to drive me home, after many attempts.
We walked to her blue Mustang and she began to drive.
Mackenzie looked at the road and glanced at me. "Are you going to get a job?" she asked, ignoring the beeps from passing cars. "No," I laughed, wondering why she would ask me that.
"The Christmas season is around the corner. Don't you want some money to buy gifts?" she said, after she stopped the car at a red light, and looked at herself in the mirror. She began to apply strawberry lipgloss, until the stoplight turned green.
I shook my head. "My dad could give me the money," I suggested, hoping that we can stop talking about jobs. My dad is really rich and famous, most of you should know him.
Mackenzie turned to look at me and sighed, "Your dad may be rich, but don't take advantage of that."
"I guess I can do a job search. Maybe I could buy a car with the money."
She squealed, "Yay! Tomorrow, I can't help you. I'm hanging with Caleb."
I wiggled my eyebrows. It looks like some weird romance is brewing. She immediately blushed, but didn't deny a single thing. I think I need to create some ship names, right away!
She stopped the car at my gigantic house and I got out. I was at the door and she shouted from her car, "Tell your father not to stress so much!"
"Okay! See you!" I shouted back and waved goodbye. She quickly sped off in the direction of her own big house.
I opened the door to my house and the maid, Megan, greeted me, "Good evening, Savannah." Today, she was wearing a light blue and white maid outfit and her blonde hair was in a curled bun. She even had a British accent!
I smiled at her. "Hi, Megan. Is mom home yet?" My mom usually lived with my dad in Virginia, leaving me alone with the maids and butlers.
She shook her head sadly. "She took the private jet to visit your father in Virginia," she explained, while she dusted a little stone statute of a bird. "I'll start making you dinner, darling." She quickly ran off to the kitchen and I heard a clatter of dishes.
I ran after her and into the kitchen. The kitchen was rather messy. Dishes were everywhere and some were broken. Oh my mother will have a fit, if she finds out! Some sort of red sauce oozed from a broken pot. I'm pretty sure that is just marinara sauce, not blood. Oh, I hope it's not cooked blood.
I looked around and saw Megan on the floor with red, rosy cheeks and Winston, my butler, crouching next to her. I slowly walked over to them and raised my eyebrows. "What just happened?" I asked, even though I have somewhat of an idea.
They both ignored my question and my presence.
Winston got up and held out his hand for Megan and she gladly took it. Winston had brown, long hair that was gelled and styled. He had dark green eyes and was quite tall.
"Thanks, Winston. You gave me quite a fright!" she giggled, while she twirled a loose strand of blonde hair in her finger.
Winston laughed, "I didn't know I could be that scary, miss." I rolled my eyes because I did not like this new found romance.
I quickly left the room and headed to the living room. The living room was quite big. The walls were a pastel blue and we had a white couch. There was a flat-screen tv in the middle of the room and a glass coffee table.
I plopped down on the white sofa and took out my new sketchbook, that Griffin gave me. I began to draw a portrait of a girl holding a flower. As I sketched, there was an odd smell coming from the kitchen. It was like something was burning.
All of a sudden, Megan ran over to me. I frowned at her, while she caught her breath.
"What's wrong?"
"There is a fire in the kitchen! I want you to go outside while I call the fire department." she ranted and paced back and forth in the living room. "Why did he have to distract me?" I heard her murmur under her breath, as she shook her head in disapproval.
The smell of smoke grew stronger, as the fire grew and cackled. The fire was getting close to me and I was burning alive.
The air grew too dense, I began to cough. I quickly sprinted towards the door, but knocked into something big. I winced in pain, as tears came into my eyes. I thought to myself, "I'm going to die today." I collapsed on the floor, as I became unconscious. Everything was turning dark.
The sound of sirens were coming.
