Hiccup's POV

Well after getting shot by my girlfriend's father definitely wasn't on the schedule today. We ended up going to Merida's home. When we got there I couldn't believe my eyes. There standing before me was a huge stone castle! Well this sure beats my home.

They took me to the nurse and I was left alone with the nurse bandaging me up.

"Who would've thought after all that fussing last year the princess ends up liking a Viking!" She exclaimed.

"Why what happened last year?" I questioned

"You don't know lad? Well it's quite a story, you see the young princess was being forced to be betrothed to one of the three lords they all competed for her hand in an archery competition when all of a sudden she went on to the field and claimed she was competing for her own hand she got three bulls eyes and even split an arrow, the queen nearly had a fit!"

"Wow, that does sound like Merida though." I stated

"Oh but there's more you see the princess ended up accidentally turning her mother and brothers into bears!! Luckily she reversed two curses! She has a lot of courage that wild one." She said.

"She sure does." I said dazed by what I had just heard.

I was taken to a very nice room with a note on the bed.

Dear Hiccup of Berk,

The princess has invited you to her homecoming ball tonight, traditional formal wear has been placed in your closet the ball will start at sundown please be ready.

I looked in my closet and there was a green shirt like my own but softer fabric and below it was a traditional Scottish kilt. Great I get to wear something that'll make me look even more unmanly. I put on the clothes and I didn't look half bad.

I realized sundown was coming soon so I assorted myself down the winding staircase not knowing what to expect at this ball since I have never been to one.

Merida's POV

"Merida, honestly if we don't get your hair done we are going to be late and a princess is never tardy!" My mother said trying to stuff my hair in my bonnet.

"Mother!! Hiccup likes me for who I am, I doubt he'll care whether my hair is in a bonnet!"

"If this boy is to be your husband..."

"Mother! We've only been dating for two months!"

All of a sudden I heard a rip.

"Yes!!" I muttered

"Ugh fine we will just have to leave it!"

"Oh too bad!" I said sarcastically

I took a look at myself in the mirror. I wore a baby blue gown that complimented my eyes, it had white trimming. It was definitely one of my more fancy of dresses. I wore actual make up and I looked a little different but I could still see myself which made me happy.

My mother and I went down stairs to be announced.
