"Tell me more about Evangeline" I broke the silence. We were still lying on the beach floor just enjoying each other's company. I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask about Evangeline since he was starting to tell me things.
"I don't want to talk about her" Chase laughed looking over at me. I kept my face neutral so he would understand I was serious. "I want to focus on us" I sighed, giving in.
"Fine... Then tell me something you read from a newspaper in 2010 word from word" I chuckled. The vibrations from his chest sent a tingly feeling through me as he laughed.
"China passes Japan to take second spot in list of world's largest economies" He recited in an announcer's voice.
"Did that actually happen?" I ask
"Yeah, it did" He smiles "Do you not watch the news?"
"I watch the news... occasionally" I try my best to put on the most innocent smile. He laughs at me, shaking his head vigorously.
"You're a mess"

We decided to leave for the hotel a while earlier because as the night went on my boy had started to turn more and more into a Popsicle stick. I tried crawling on top of him to keep him warm but it didn't do any good. Chase rested on the bed with his feet crossed and arms behind his head. He watched me from the bedroom while I talked on the wall-phone in the kitchen.
"I can't find the thermostat" I complained into the phone trying to ignore the silly faces Chase made. It was hard because he was extremely good at distracting me. "No, I checked there. There's nothing but chipping blue wall paint right there" I mumbled the last part. The woman on the phone was starting to irritate the shit out of me. I've been on the phone for the last ten minutes insisting that she'd send someone up here. It was cold as heck in this room and I wasn't planning to stay in it if it stayed like this. "No. You aren't listening to me!" I whined, balling my free hand "I checked underneath the cabinets of the kitchen. It wasn't next to the front door either. Also it- I'm not searching properly? How about you send one of your people up here to find it because you aren't treating us with the courtesy we deserve you ignorant bimbo!"
"Effy" Chase grabbed the phone from my hand. I hadn't even realized he was coming over. He leaned over me while he put the phone to his ear. I sighed, hopping up and sitting on the kitchen's island. "Yes, hello? Can I get an employee up here to fix the thermostat? It's actually broken. Alright, thank you" He hung up, looking through the phone book in what looked like the food section.
"How do you know the thermostat is broken?" I ask curiously, eyeing Chase suspiciously as he dials a new number into the phone.
"I actually do not but when they come expecting to fix the 'broken' thermostat we'll definetly know where it is then." A smile etched its way onto his lips while he added a flirty wink. I couldn't help but grow an evil smile as well.
"Genius!" I fist pumped the air. The sleeves of my huge 'I hate everyone' sweater falling to my elbows as I did so. I was literally wearing my 'I don't give a crap' night clothes. An oversized sweater and plaid blue boy boxers with knee high white socks. I looked like how I looked on my first day of senior year except I actually wore pants and shoes. What can I say? When you give up, you give up.
"I ordered croissants, eggs, bacon and sausage with some orange juice. Is that ok with you?" Chase asks.
"Pfft hell yeah" I laugh looking at the clock hanging above the fridge. "In one minute it'll be my birthday but it doesn't even feel like it"
"Why's that?" Chase asks coming between my knees on the counter, his arms cornering me.
"Every birthday I have ever had I spent with my parents. They are so mad at me that I highly doubt I'll get a call from them" I sigh
