Three weeks. Three weeks ago was the last time we had saw each other. I looked at him across the parking lot. He was surrounded by a bunch of his friends, girls and boys. He looked so carefree and flawless at the same time. A small part of me envied him for being able to draw so much attention but then again he's the star of the school. The school's best point guard. I'm just the little puppet that follows him around everywhere. His geeky girlfriend. But I couldn't help it. I loved him.

"Hey baby" He greeted when I came up to his in-crowd. I mumbled a short,

"Hey"

He shooed all of them away before whipping his head in my direction and throwing an arm around my neck ruffling my hair a bit. He knew I hated that but he didn't care and I just let him get away with it each time.

"So I was thinking," He broke the silence "You should come to the homecoming dance with me" It wasn't a question, no. It was a statement. "And I'm going to wear white with a gold tie, you should wear gold babe" I rolled my eyes at his suggestion that wasn't even something up for discussion. I wanted to argue but all I could do was give him a curt nod. My stomach growled when we reached his black escalade.

"Do you want to go get some lunch? Maybe get some from that new pizza joint that opened up a few blocks down from here" I told him. His eyebrows pulled together as he unlocked his car.

"No offense baby, but you're packing on a little weight. I don't want you looking so plump when homecoming is just around the corner" I grimaced at his words. He practically called me fat and I took total offense to it. Taking the blow, I opened the car door and got in. He kept his car nice and clean. Everything was dusted and there were no crumbs anywhere. That was the thing about him, if you ate in his car it would be the last time you'd eat unless you would be willing to eat in your grave when you're dead after he murdered you.

"You're right," I stated strapping on my seat belt "It's just I wanted to catch up with you. We haven't seen each other in three weeks, I just-" He turned to face me to hear me go on "I just missed you" I whispered.

"And that's why I'm taking you to homecoming silly" He stated, reaching over and once again ruffling my hair "You've been gone for too long. I almost thought it was over between us"

My grandmother was sick and she passed away two weeks ago. At first my parents and I went there to keep her company and to assure her of how much we loved her and then a week later she died. She had anemia for months but of course she got treatment, in fact my father paid for her treatment. It just wasn't enough.

"You never even called" He added, turning on the engine "Which led me to believe you had found somebody else" I looked at him confused. I told him why I left and all he did before I went to Washington, was complain. He didn't even ask me how everything went with grandma Dorthy. He didn't ask how she was or anything. And I called him. Of course I called him. Who else would I vent to? But of course each time I called, it went straight to voice mail.

"What are you talking about? I called you numerous of times. You were probably just too busy hanging out with your friends" I felt the need to speak up. "And what do you mean you thought I found somebody else? Shane, we've been together for five months and going. Do you really believe I would be worrying about my love interests when I'm taken and when my grandma is dying?"

He surprised me at how uncaring he could be. Actually, it was like him.

"You're right. Anyways," The corner of my lips twitched up into a smile. He was finally going to ask me about my grandma. See, he's not as bad as I thought

"You didn't sleep with anyone while you were away, right?"

I looked at him dumbfounded. Here I was feeling relieved that my boyfriend wasn't an inconsiderate jerk for a second. His features turned cold as he looked towards me, probably wondering why I was so silent.
