"Right there"

Chase slowed down his bike and pulled to the side of my house. Now you may be saying, what? A bicycle? That's so lame... But no. It's a motorcycle. Never in a million years did I think I'd be riding on the back of one of these things but Chase was so persistent. Actually not even. He just said "I promise you won't get hurt, just get on" after when I told him no. I didn't even put up much of a fight. I don't know what it is about him but he's so convincing when he doesn't even mean to be. Or maybe I'm just weak.

"Thanks" I mumbled taking my skateboard out of his hands. He lifted his helmet to give me a warm smile saying,

"Make sure you're ready in half an hour" He said teasingly pointing a finger at me as if he was my father.

"I'll be ready" I whined. He's been telling me that for the longest each time we stopped at a stop light. He nodded his head before speeding off on his bike. I watched and waited till he rounded the corner before turning around and walking to my doorstep.

My dad's car wasn't outside so I assumed him and my mom were out which meant I could get ready and leave without an interview.

I closed my front door, heading upstairs to my room taking two steps at a time. Why was lunch with Chase getting me so excited? If this was last night I would've told him to be gone. Maybe after our long chat this morning I realized that he wasn't so bad...

My clothes dried off just barely because of the wind that was hitting me when I was on the bike with Chase but I still smelled like a pond. I just wanted to get these icky clothes off me and take a nice warm relaxing shower before my lunch date. I mean, er, lunch meeting.

Turning around I switched on my light and my eyes flickered to movement on my left. I screamed so loud that I was sure the neighbors heard me.

"Effy!" She shushed. After panting and trying to resume a constant breathing pattern, I shouted at my best friend.

"What the hell are you doing? Trying to give me a heart attack?!" I screamed. Drea cringed back in shock but soon returned to her natural position with an angry look on her face.

"No but clearly that's what you're trying to give me." I looked at my best friend with the weirdest face ever. What was she rattling on about now? Brushing her aside, I walked to my closet to pull out some clothes. "Oh so you're just going to ignore me? Kurt and I've been looking everywhere for you. We thought something had happened to you"

"Nothing happened. I'm fine" I turned around to give her a reassuring smile, stroking the side of her face. Almost instantaneously her angry looked was replaced with a soft one. "Now... I have to meet a friend of mine for lunch"

"You have other friends than Kurt and I? There's a shocker" She joked from behind me.

"You're honestly so funny. You should be a comedian" I sarcastically told her, pulling out my daily routine outfit. She prepped up with a bright smile on.

"Really?"

"Yeah. You could totally be the female Kevin Hart" I lied walking to my bathroom.

"Now I know you're lying because you don't even like him" She pouted.

"Yep, you're right. I was lying. Bye" I closed the bathroom door laughing. I heard her fake crying from behind the door shouting how much she hated me which only made me laugh harder.

Oh, friends. Where would I be without them?

****

"You said they wanted you ready in thirty minutes. Well where are they?" Drea was so anxious to see the mystery person I was going to meet that she couldn't shut up.
