Shane stopped the car at the side of my house. As soon as he did, I got out not wanting to be near them right now. I needed time to think and collect my thoughts. That did just happen. There was a rush of adrenaline coursing through my veins. Holding a gun to protect myself and Shane and Chase was the craziest thing I've ever done. I mean a gun?!
I scurried to the front door of my house, panting. Despite how cold it was, sweat was trickling down my forehead. My hair didn't help one bit it just made me hotter. I didn't even have a rubber band to tie it up. I just needed to take a shower to cool myself off and relax. Yeah, that's exactly what I needed.
Then I remembered that I didn't have my keys. Now I was practically locked outside of my house. My mom's car wasn't in the driveway which definitely meant she was either working or just visiting my dad there, either way she was at the hospital and not here. I couldn't even climb to my window. The ladder was pulled up and the rope that let it down was in my room. The back door that you could enter from to the kitchen was locked. The whole house was locked! Now what was I supposed to do?
"What's wrong?" I heard Chase call from the car. I ignored him trying to think of what I could do to get inside my house.
"The spare!" I jumped quickly looking through the potted plants and at the top of the door. Nope, no key. Mom must've have taken them. Dad was no longer in the house anymore at the moment so she probably thought we couldn't take any chances with someone breaking in. Mom would've probably been too shock to do anything if that had happened.
"Come on" I heard Chase call "We'll take you somewhere else"
I heard the both of them bickering probably Shane saying that he didn't want to drive me anywhere.
"Effy, let's go"
Finally giving in to Chase's insistence, I trudged back to the truck.
"Where are you going?" Shane gritted his teeth. I thought for a moment... Maybe I could just go by Drea's. Oh my god, Drea! I forgot I was supposed to be meeting her earlier.
"Can I borrow your phone?" I asked in general. Whoever would give me it, I'd use it. Chase reached into his pocket dropping his phone in my hand after unlocking it. I entered Drea's number before typing some words.
This is Eff. Meet me at Kurt's, yeah?
And sent.
I handed Chase back his phone giving him a small thank you. Then I told Shane to drive to Kurt's house. Talking to him is the last thing I want to do so I sighed in relief knowing I didn't have to explain to him where Kurt's house was. They were friends and they've been by each other's house before I'm sure of it. Kurt was closer to my place than Drea's and I wanted to get away from these two as fast as possible, so this plan was great.

After getting out the car, I immediately marched up to Kurt's front door hoping Chase wouldn't try to stop me and maybe apologize again. The wind has grown stronger throughout the night. I still had no real clothing on. Being out here in a sports bra is probably the most stupid thing a person can do. It was literally freezing out here.
I crouched wrapping an arm around my stomach so that my arm would cover my bare lower torso from the cold. With my other hand I knocked on Kurt's door calling his name. His dad's car wasn't in the driveway, not a surprise. Kurt's dad is never here. Mr. Collen works at a factory that makes and sells small car models. If you walk into Kurt's house you can find a few here and there. Mr. Collen used to own his own sporting goods store but he closed to the business after his wife died years ago. Maybe the year before I met Kurt so like 3 years ago. Kurt took after his dad in sports. He could play anything and everything that makes you sweat. The sport he's best in is basketball, though. He's literally the best shooting guard at our school. Everyone knew he was going to make it big one day. He's definitely going to get a scholarship to go to whatever school he dreams of and play college basketball.
