-Prologue-
"How come you have to leave?" I said, tears starting to bulid up. "I told you. We have to move to El Paso, Texas because its just easier for us there." Jaime said, putting his hand on my shoulder. "Please don't cry."
" I know but you're my only friend and you've always been here for me and now you're leaving!" I replied tears now streaming down my face. "You're my best friend and i'll be here! We have each others emails! We'll always keep in contact. Here..." He said as he reaches in his pocket, pulling out a small box with the letter T on it.
"Here! I got this for you! My mom helped me make it!" He open the box, and inside was a lopsided heart with the letters T & J, messily engraved into it. "I made it out of the scrap metal in my dads work shop! It took a really long time! First i had to find the metal and then i had to try to cut it...." He never got to finish his story because i pulled him into a hug.
"Thank you so much Jaime." He hugged me back, " You're welcome Tiffany." We pulled away and we smiled at each other.
Even though we were only in the second grade, i knew that i liked him. His long black hair and brown eyes. How he always protected me from those mean bullies and told me funny stories and how his family treated me like their own daughter. " I'm gonna miss you so much" Tears streaming down both of our faces. "I'm gonna miss you too."
I stood at their driveway and watched them as they piled into the car. His mother and father said their goodbyes to me and started the car. As they drove away, I saw Jaime's hand wave good bye to me. I waved good bye with one hand and the other hand holding the necklace he gave me.
