-Tiffany POV-
When i opened my eyes, i felt like i was thrown onto a wall. Which was actually what happen. I tried to stand up but everything looked red and i was feeling dizzy, so i stumbled and would have fell if Blue Beetle hadn't caught me. Whoa. Up close, like really close, he looked like, well a beetle. He stared at me for what seemed like forever. He finally realized that and shook his head.
"It's okay. We got you." He said as he stood me up to my feet.
I just nodded, too shocked to speak. When he stood me up on my feet, i finally got a good look at the room. It was completely trashed. The ceiling and walls where all melted, there was ashes and smoke everywhere, and everything seemed to be burned. I did that? I thought i was just dreaming.
A girl, i'm guessing Wonder Girl, grabbed my arm and directed me to a more bigger room where Robin handed me an ice pad and water. I took them cautionly. I looked around and thought to my self, this.. was their headquarters? Then i remember the Cave was destroyed. There was a a big computer and screen toward the back. There was an upstairs, where i guess is where all the rooms were. There wasn't much in this room.
"Hi. As you might all ready know, i'm Robin. And thats Wonder Girl and Blue Beetle." Robin said as he sat down across from me. Blue Beetle and W.G stood behind him looking at me. I was wondering why Blue Beetle was still suited up. It wasn't like i was gonna attack them. I mean they just saved my life. Then i realized he might want to keep his identity secret.
"I know you're wondering why you are here. Let's us explain." Robin began to explain on how him and Batgirl found me and put me in one of the medical rooms to heal. I've been in a coma for the last 2 days. When i started to wake up, my powers activated again, destroying the room i was staying in.
"Oh. I'm sorry about the room. And also thank you for saving me." I said looking down at my shoes. I felt ashamed and stupid. I always told my self that if i ever encounted anyone from the team, I would make a good impression. But instead i almost killed my self and everyone else. How stupid can i be?
"Don't worry about the room. That can easily be repaired. Now I just wanna ask a few questions and then..." Robin was cut off by Wonder Girl.
"Robin. Shes tired. Look at her." I was pretty tired... "Let her stay in one of the rooms for a little bit and then we can ask her questions later."
"Okay. Fine. Blue, take umm..." Robin trailed off looking at me.
"Tiffany. My name is Tiffany."
"Okay! Thats what we thought. But i wasn't sure. Blue told us your na-"
"Hey! Let me take you and your stuff to one of the rooms!" Said Blue Beetle cutting off Robin.
He took my bag that was hanging next to the stairs. He signaled me to follow him up the stairs. I got up from the couch and followed him up stairs. We went down a hall way and directed me to the last room. Inside the room was a single bed, a dresser, and the room had a balcony over looking the harbor.
"Were in Happy Harbor?" I asked.
"Um yeah! This is our head quarter for now.... Don't tell anyone! Haha..." He said nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.
I looked at him slighly confused. Maybe he's scared i'm gonna burn him. Thats why he seems so nervous. He looked down at the floor when i turned to face him. He looked like a small child when he looked at the ground. It made me smile a little.
"Um... if you need anything, we're down stairs." He said still looking at the floor.
Before i could say anything, he was out the door making his way down the stairs. Okay... I turned around to look at the room. I sigh and opened my bag. I took out some clothes and made my way to the bathroom and took a long deserving shower, and changed into new clothes. I was wearing my skinny jeans and a white v-neck shirt. I let down my hair and put on my marron shoes. I looked at myself in the mirror. This is okay. I look... reasonable. I ate some food i had in my bag and walked onto the balcony. The sun was just starting to set. Some boats were starting to come back from sea. The sky... it looked like the day when i ran away from 'home'. Blood red and orange. Like fire. I wondered if they were still looking for me. I couldn't care anyless if they were.
After about an hour, i made my way down the stairs. At the computer was Nightwing and Robin, looking at some files on the screen. I looked closer and saw that they were looking at MY files from all my foster family and criminal records. Some other people were sitting on the couch aurging about what channel they should watch, and i can hear construction going on toward the sick room. Opps... I slowly made my way down the stair, feeling uncomfortable. Everyone on the couch was looking at me and i saw it was Super Boy, Beast Boy and Miss Martin. They fell silent and Nightwing and Robin turned to face toward me.
"Hello Tiffany. Sit down. We have some questions to ask." Nightwing said thrusting his chin toward a chair.
I sat down and waited for the questions. I now had everyones attention in the room. I saw some more people walk into the room from the corner of my eye, but didn't dare look at that direction.
"Everyone leave." Nightwing said sternly. Everyone got up and some people headed for the doors or upstairs. We were now alone and that didn't make me feel any better.
"Okay. Please don't be scared. We just need to know more about you." Nightwing said, facing toward the screen with all of my info.
"I'm not scared." I said trying to sound strong.
"Okay good. Lets proceed
He proceeded to ask me about my family...
"Dead"
My foster parents...
"Evil demons."
Why i was always running away...
" They treat me like i'm some sort of animal. And i wasn't gonna take it. So i runaway."
I kept my answer short and simple. And truthful. Usually i didn't share info with people. But this was Nightwing, one of the best detective, next to Batman. I couldn't lie to him. After about what seemed like forever, he was done asking questions.
"Okay, from what i got from you is that. You are a orphan who dislikes staying with any foster parent. Also you would change your name because you didn't want anyone tracking you. Smart. You would run away from your foster familys, with a plan that 99.99% of the time would go smoothly. You have quite a criminal recored for fighting, drinking and plagiarism. Nothing too extreme really. And that you weren't aware you had powers until you were 14. You don't know how they came to be at all. And you are 16 going on 17 correct?"
"Correct."
"Well Tiffany. I have to say, i'm quite impressed by you. You seem to have a lot of potential and spirit in you. You obviouly know how to fight pretty well and you seem like you can also be a good detective and help plan a lot of missions." He sat down across from me, his elbows on his knees. He sat upright and looked at me.
"The founding members of this team, we had a brief meeting about you. We talked about if you were qualified and... safe for this team. We never had some one with fire abilties dued to mostly Miss Martin, but she said she sees good in you and hopefully wouldn't abuse your powers on her. Or anymore on the team for that matter. So we came to a verdict. We want you on the team." He looked at my straight in the eyes. They... wanted ME... on the team. To become a hero.
"You don't have a stable home anyway, so you can live here.We will help you train and help you control your powers. You can be a big help and we need more members like you. We trust you. So what do you say?" He stood up with his hand out. He was waiting for my answer. Do i want to become a superhero? Of course i do! They're taking me in as their own, and they're going to help me. I can finally have a home. With a real family.
I stood up and faced Nightwing. I smiled and took his hand.
"I'm in."
