Blue Beetle and Firestorm (Young Justice Fan-Fiction)

Its me (Chapter 9)

-Jaimes POV-

Its been 2 days since Nightwing annouced that Tiffany was going to be part of the team. I was really excited at first, but as time when by i was starting to feel more nervous. I still haven't revealed who i really was to Tiffany. I was scared on how her reaction would be. I looked at the clock. 4:00. I should be heading out. I rolled out of bed and made my way down the stairs.

"MOM! I'm going out!"

"Be careful!" She replied.

I closed the front door, suited up and flew to the nearest Zeta Tube and Zeta to Happy Harbor.

Blue Beetle: B22

"Hey there Blue! Just in time! Everyones in the back. Why you suited up?" Bart said quickly.

"Oh its hard to explain." I said softly.

"Okay sounds crash!" He yelled as he zoomed off.

I walked to the back and i can tell Miss.Martin was incharge of decor. There were muli-colored lanterns that decroated the dock, and tiny flowers on each table. Everything just screamed summer. I wasn't complaining, everything looked really nice. 

I scanned the crowded for B.B and Robin, when my eyes fell upon Tiffany. She was wearing shorts that showed off her tan legs and a floral shirt. She had on no shoes and her hair was just loose around her shoulder. Her hair framed her face so perfectly it hurt. She was holding a cup, listening to Super Boy talk about who knows what.

"BLUE! Come on!"  Said Beast Boy knocking me out of my trace and back to reality.

"We're gonna make a toast to Tiff! Why you suited up?" I just rolled my eyes. 

We all gathered around in a circle on the dock, grabbing drinks to make a toast. The sun was low in the sky, just about to set. 

"A toast! To having a new member to the team, Tiffany! And a toast to summer!" exclaimed Miss. Martin.

"Before we proceed, may I suggest picking a... alter ego... a name!" said Aqualad.

"Oh yeah! I think i choose... Firestorm." Tiffanu said shyly. 

"Perfect! To Firestorm!" Miss. Martin exclaimed raising her glass.

"To Firestorm!" We all exclaimed raising our glass. 

After we did our toast and ate, i decided to look for Tiffany, or should I say Firestorm. Maybe talk to her for a little bit.

I saw her in the crowd and started to make my ways towards her. But i stopped short when i saw Aqualad walk up to her offering her a drink. Damn. Lost my chance. Instead I walked over to Beast Boy and Robin and watched them from a distance.

"Hey Blue! Stilled suited up?" Robin asked. Ugh...

A few hours later as the sun began to set and everyone started to go inside, i stayed outside watching the ocean. The way the sun reflects off the ocean made it feel like it was really summer. I was about to get up and go in, when i saw some in the distance looking out to the water. It was Tiffany! This was the perfect time to talk to here! I stood up really quick and walked slowly over to her.

"Uhh hey... Tiffany! Congrats on finally being part of the team. And coming up with a name! Firestorm! Great name!" I said nevously. Did i say to much? God i said too much.

She turned toward me and i can finally see her up close and she was wearing a necklace. I looked more closely and saw it was MY necklace. The one I made for her almost 10 years ago! She kept it all these years? Why? 

"Hey Blue. Thank you! Yeah coming up a name was something i thought about a lot." She said smoothly. She smiled at me, showing off her straight, white teeth. 

"Coming up with a name is the best part! Even though my name was already choosen for me... it was still cool." It was a lot more easier to talk to her than i thought.

"Oh yeah. The late Ted Cord. Died a true hero." She face toward the ocean so all i can see what her profile. She reached to touch her necklace, turning it around her fingers. There was a silence, not an awkward one. We were both just admiring the sun set and the colors it was casting on the water. It was a while before she spoke again.

"Why you suited up? Everytime i see you you're always in costume! Haha! I'm starting to think you're just an android!" She exclaimed, looking at me now. Oh god... 

"I'm not an android. It's just..." I looked at my feet, then back to her. Her full attention was on me now and i can see the ocean reflecting off her eyes and the wind making her hair move over her shoulders ever so slightly. She was waiting for me to finish my sentence. 

*Jaime Reyes, you have to reveal your true idenity now! I will suit down if you do not!*

"NO!" I yelled.

"What?" She said with a shocked look on her face.

"What nothing. I'm sorry."

"Its okay...Dont worry about it. I heard you talk to yourself sometimes. What were you going to say before?"

"I was gonna say... i'm.. uhh..." I rubbed the back of my neck unsure what to do. So i decided to do the best thing.

"Let me just show you..." 

My armor slowly started to pack itself up back into the scarab. First my legs, arm, chest, then lastly my face. The mask finally came off fully and i looked at the ground. I slowly brought my head up to face her and she gasped. 

"Ja... Jaime?" She said, tear starting to fill her eyes. "Is.. is it really you?" She covered her mouth to keep herself from crying, but the tears were already starting to fall. I grabbed her hand and held it tightly in mine.

"Yes. Its me. Its me, Tiffany." I pulled her close to me and hugged her. She wrapped her arms around my neck and cried softly into my shoulder. I had to admit i had a few tears of my own. But i didn't care. I wrapped my arms around her tighter and just held her. I softly ran my fingers through her hair, feeling how soft it was. Feeling her warmth, just cherishing this moment.

"Its me."
