Sweat dripped from off of my forehead and landed where it pleased. I dodged Carmelo on the court before making a three pointer. "And he scores," I yelled at the top of my lungs, "run me my money y'all."

Dre stood there breathless as he knelt over and put his hands on his knees. Carmelo shook his head in disbelief. "The kid is still nice."

I bowed feeling cocky. "I know, I know," I replied making Dre smack his lips. He went to go sit on the benches and take a drink from his bottled water.

For as long as I could remember, I been nice on the courts. Basketball use to be my life until I made a life. I had to give it up and make that my priority.

I can't even be mad that I gave up college scholarships and offers guaranteeing me a spot in the NBA because I love BreAnne more than anything in the world and she comes first.

I would rather be there for her and watch her grow up than to miss out on her and regret it. I'm sure one day the NBA will come back around but those missed years won't.

Dre and Carmelo handed me my fifty bucks each as we headed in the direction of my car. I haven't been balling lately and they thought I lost my skills. I had to prove to them that my skills ain't go nowhere.

"Ain't that Alexus' cousin," Dre asked as he pointed at a girl off in the distance.

Based off of how tall she was I could tell it was Sapphire. She looked like she put on a few pounds because she was never that thick. She was always a skinny little thing.

"Yeah that's her," I said before looking at the dude that was with her. He was muscular and short. He reminded of somebody I ain't like. That's when I realized it was Corey.

I started walking in their direction. His presence brought out the anger in me. Now is the time to give his ass a beating he ain't never felt before.

"What the fuck is you doing," Carmelo asked me with shock in his voice. I could hear him and Dre's footsteps following behind me in the dry ass grass.

When Sapphire saw me a look of guilt hit her face. Corey looked at me and started to smirk. "Man, what the fuck do you want," he asked me, "you coming over here like you 'bout shit, get on somewhere."

I threw a punch at him that caused him to stumble back a few steps. "You want to hit on a girl, nigga? Hit me," I yelled as Sapphire told me to stop in the background.

I gave Corey time to realize what just happened to him so he can have a fair chance to box with me. The punch I threw was more like a sneak and I ain't with that sneaking shit at all.

He threw a right hook at me that I didn't let connect since I dodged it. He swung again, but like the first one, I dodged it. I admit, he has some fast hands on him, but the way my defense is set up.

I saw an opportunity to beat his ass and I took it. All of the anger that I had built up for him came out. I had to show him that he's fucking with the wrong nigga's bestfriend.

I felt somebody pull me back and looked down to realize Corey was balled up on the ground. He got up quickly and brushed the grass off of himself as Dre and Carmelo busted out laughing at him.

"It's not even funny," Sapphire defended Corey.

"Put hands on my bestfriend again! I dare you," I warned him, looking at the results of my work. His lip was bleeding out along with a couple of other places on his face.
