A Thug's Love Never Dies: Chapter 3
~Arlie P.O.V.~
I'll be first to honestly admit that some feelings were caught over the years. When she called me up the first time sayin' she needed help, it was right around the time Heather pissed me off yet again by blowing off a doctor's appointment Nicole had the day before. So to go over to help Nelle, seeing how she loved and took care of her kids, as a mother should, it made me have a higher level of respect for Nelle. She had traits and qualities I wished Heather had but that wasn't the case. So I guess I wouldn't say these were legitimate feelings, I'd say it's a lot of admiration.
"Well you've got a lot of good qualities and we've grown closer over the last four years." I said with a casual shrug of my shoulders. "I'm not tryin' to blow this up as anything but we're both people who got an understanding for our circumstances."
"I agree with you on that. It's nice to be around someone who knows what you're going through. Sometimes the thought of 'what if I'd given you my number back at the intersection that day' pops into my head out of curiosity. I'm not hinting towards anything, I'm just saying."
"I never assumed you were hinting anything but my intentions that day were just to get a hook up, I'll be first to admit so nothin' would have happened between us."
"If we did try-"
"I'm gonna get going. I need to pick up Nicole anyways. I'll see ya around." I said as I got up from the couch and walked out the door with my keys in hand. This was a conversation that didn't need to take place right now. I know we were just talkin' but I've already been down that road with a conversation like that and it resulted in Heather leavin' her nigga of the hour for me. I'm not sayin' Nelle the type to drop Lexis but I didn't even wanna have her discussin' that topic anymore. Last thing I'm tryna do is steal Lexis' girl, not to mention it would be world war three if I ever got with Nelle because for whatever reason, Heather had a type of jealousy for her. I don't know why and I don't care to know, she not my problem. Anyways, it was time for me to get Nicole, I was missin' her a lil' too much.

"Where you at, Mom?" I asked when I walked into her house. At the table, there Nicole sat eating something off a plate and her head snapped in my direction when I came into full view. "Hey baby girl, how are you?" I walked up to her and reached down to give her a big kiss on her cheek.
"Hi Daddy and I'm good. Grandma and I made a cake." That would explain the massacre on her plate as smudges of frosting were the only remains of the cake slice. "It was good."
"I can tell based on how you inhaled the cake." Mom came walking down the hall and gave me a forced smile. "Aye to you to, Mom."
"Hi Arlie." She gave me a hug then stepped back as if taking a good look at me. "You feel thinner, what's the matter with you?- You better not be over stressing yourself." A mental roll of my eyes in irritation.
"I'm not over stressin' and I'm fine." I assured her.
"I know how stress is. A single mother, four kids and one of which who did everything in his power to prevent me from finding someone to help alleviate my stress." Stop with the shade, you're making me cold.
"Damn straight I did. Anyways, Nicole go get your things so we can go home." She nodded her head and did as I said by walking over to the couch to get her backpack. "If you send me home with that cake-"
"She likes it so she can have it. It won't hurt her." The last thing she needs is sugar, girl's already got plenty of energy as it is. "You should have some too, I know you have a sweet tooth from time to time."
