It was the beginning of February, Zadan decided to get in touch with Alice. After months of not hearing from anyone, no contact what so ever he decided to give her a quick hello email. He was wondering if she would even talk to him again considering everything that had happened. But she answered. She said her hello and how are you.

"I've been better that's for sure."

"What do you mean?"

"I have to go in for heart surgery. Mine is no longer cutting it. They had me on a pace maker and it didn't work basically if I don't get a new one then bye bye Z."

"Oh My God! Are you serious?"

"As a heart attack....lol."

"That's not funny punk."

"Probably not but it's all I have right now considering."

"When is it?"

"It's for this coming Monday. So I'll have the weekend to prepare everything that I don't already have ready to go."

"Who's going to be going with you?"

"My mother will be there."

Alice knew this was serious because Zadan and his mother no longer spoke or had communication unless it was him in trouble and needed a good lawyer or now with his health.

"So what are you going to do this weekend?"

"I'll be heading home, just going to chill I guess. What about you?"

"I'll be in Dallas for a work conference. You should come join me. We could hang out at night and you could be in the hotel room during the day. But at least I'd get to see you before everything."

"What hotel will you be at and when?"

"Are you serious?"

"And bring something nice for one of those dinners Alice, I want to take you out to a good dinner."

"Really Z?"

"Yes, really. Look I know I wasn't always the best boyfriend to you but this is something you deserve and whether you believe it or not, I do still and always will love you. You hold a piece of my heart and no it's not because I'm going into surgery that I'm saying all this, it's because you should know it."

She was silent for a moment before she finally said, "I love you too Zadan."

"So is that a yes to the date?"

"You're stupid! Yes it's a yes to the date."

They both laughed and continued to talk.

Zadan only had one last thing to do before he went under the knife. February 11th he got into Blake's email and sent her an email. His email was short and simple, it was lyrics to their song. He waited knowing Jaye well enough to know that she would respond with something sarcastic or bitchy. And she did.

"I don't know who the hell this is but it is NOT funny."

"Who was trying to be funny?"

"Who the hell is this?"

"It's Z so lose your attitude...I have some news you might want to know."

"What Z? This isn't funny."

"Wasn't trying to be funny Jaye. Blake's not dead. He's alive and well."

"Don't fucking lie to me Z...." Her tone softened. "Are you serious? Prove it."
