Today,
We chose
To sail
Together.
The sun
Was out
The sky was blue
And the lake looked
Enticing.
Of course, I have
Doubts.
I keep
Having a
Niggling thought
That it
Is all a cruel
Trick.
That one day
Or at any moment
The charade will be over
And I will be heart broken.
I'm supposed to hate
You, but,
I don't.
I think I'm realising
That what I thought before,
Is true.
I still see you
As a person
That everyone
Loves.
But I think I
Love you too.
Why else,
What other reason,
What other power gives
You the permission
To own my every
Waking thought.
Unless it was love,
Or whatever love is.
You said something today,
Which now I do not remember
But as we were
Tipping over again,
I did the
Most unbelievable thing:
I gave your shoulder
A half-hearted nudge.
You splashed into the water
And the boat righted itself.
When you managed to
Climb on again,
You ran towards me,
Encased my body in you arms,
and
Jumped
Off the other side
Into the water
And every time
I think of that
Moment,
I smile.
