Chapter 12 – The First Day of Instruction

My body felt like it had been hit by sack of bricks as I found myself waking up on the spare hay bed that my master had at the back room. I’ve come to my consciousness just now as I looked at my hands. My left hand was still taped up as usual while my right hand was still normal. I then felt my torso as it was wrapped up bandages as well. Even when shishou just hit me with the back of his sword it still hurt like hell for me. I guess I was lucky just to land that blow on him.

I sat up and felt the pain surge around my body. I can’t blame myself because I was the one who took up the challenge to fight him and land a clean hit. Looking around I saw that there was no one here in the spare room so it gave me time to think about things.

I ruffled my long messy hair as I looked out the window and notice the sun shining through it. An encounter with the darkness inside me had led to think that there were really two aspects of darkness. One was the evil aspect and the other was the neutral aspect. Darkness innates probably have a choice to pick on whichever they will be and once they have decided there’s no turning back I guess.

The theory I came up with even before coming here was that darkness is hate and rage itself. I remember overhearing shishou saying that darkness evolves with the person who uses it. It is an adaptive elemental innate just like light. So if it is brought up the wrong way then most probably the user will succumb to the evil aspect of darkness. Lucian’s a lucky guy if that’s the case since his darkness has no influence on him whatsoever.

I was caught up in my thoughts when suddenly I heard the door to the right of me open. Quickly, I looked to see who it was and it was none other than shishou himself.

“Back to the land of the living eh?” I heard Aizen say as he pulled up a bench and sat down not quite near me. “I knew you were built like a behemoth.” He added as he took again his flask and started drinking. Shishou has drinking problems.

“You never really back down on a fight.” I replied to him coldly as I sat up and let my legs down on the floor. My body still hurts like hell. “How long was I out?” I added.

“It’s already morning of the next day. You’ve been asleep since yesterday after our fight.” Shishou replied to me. “You’re friends are here actually. They’re waiting outside.” He added.

“I’ll pass. My body’s not really conditioned yet.” I replied to him in a very apathetic manner. Well it’s true since shishou did a number on me yesterday.

“Well, hate to break it to ya but you’d best be getting your ass off that bed.” Aizen told me. “Training starts today.” He added and this had really irritated me.

“You’re not even giving me a time to rest?” I snarled at my master as I frowned a little, well not that I already frown most of the time.

“Rest is for the weak.” Aizen told me as I saw him stand up and get out of the room where I was at.

I stood up as well and my body hurt like it never hurt before. I looked for my shirt and luckily it was right beside my bed as I put it on afterwards and my shoes as well and walked towards the door. Seems like I was out for a full day yesterday; wonder what I had missed? I bet not much really.

General POV

Seiryu got up from his bed now he was wearing a shirt and jeans as he held on his katana and made his way out of the room in his master’s shack. He found himself outside as he saw his friends doing their own thing while he lay on bed. The long haired student went on the huge tree stump where he was chopping some wood before and sat down there and immediately Lucian and Yue went near him as they knew that he was now conscious.
