Chapter 23 - Oath
“Kill you?” Seiryu said uneasily as he gripped on his sword tightly. “Why would I do that? He asked in a very uneasy manner.
“Because that’s how the passing of the final attack always has been. Why do you think that there no other practitioners of the Jigoku Mugen Satsujin ken left?” Aizen said to him. “It will be alright, I’ve been through the same thing.” He added.
“But…” the long haired student tried to reason.
“It’ll be alright.” The master swordsman said as he stood up and was now in front of the long haired student.
Seiryu was still uneasy of this hasty process as he tried to calm down and think. He caon’t possibly kill the person that was responsible for him surviving all these years. Killing his master would only add to the burden that he already is carrying around him.
The two of them now stood facing against each other and each of them let out their darkness energies as they both now readied themselves with the same stance that the long haired student had done earlier.
Aizen looked at his apprentice’s eyes and noticed that there was a feeling of uneasiness that was present. “Hesitant as always.” He thought to himself as he let out more darkness energy. The master swordsman was now focusing on his attack as was his student but then something had happened that had surprised the latter.
Seiryu noticed his master then stopped conjuring his darkness energy and instead he stood up from his stance and turned his back away from him. This had caused the latter to stop as well.
“I’ll give you till sunset.” Aizen said. “To prepare yourself mentally.” He said as he walked away from him until he wasn’t already present.
Yue then made her way towards the long haired student as she put a hand on his shoulder. He then looked at her and shortly afterwards he looked away but there was a hint of red that was present on his face.
“Are you really going to do it?” she then asked the long haired student.
“Can’t really decide now. I still need to think about it.” Seiryu replied to her as she removed her hand from his shoulder.
“A choice of power over attachment.” Lucian said as he made his rapier disappear and clutched on to his shoulder. It was evident that he still felt the effects of the final attack that hit him earlier. “Now I get it.” He added.
“Get what?” Yue then asked him in response.
“I get it now why there are only few practitioners of the sword style that Seiryu possesses. The ritual of the passing requires death of the previous master to preserve the secret.” He said to them.
“Came as a shock to me too.” Seiryu then said as he felt the wind blow against his hair. He then sheathed his katana as he walked off to the clearing that led to the shack. Yue tried to follow him but then she felt a hand that held on her arm that seemed to stop her.
“He needs to think about this alone.” Lucian said to her.
“I know but…” she tried to explain.
“Come now Miss Yue, we can’t be interfering with his decision.” He added.
“But will he really do it?” Yue then asked the calm student.
“I’m sure he will make the right choice.” Lucian replied to her as he smiled.

Melfice was in the other part of the forest. It was a place that he discovered on his own as it looked similar to where Seiryu and his master trained their swordsmanship. He held his gunblade at hand as he let out his searing flames as it surrounded the blade of his weapon. He was doing some forms of slashes that seemed to pattern after his style of attack.
