#20 Pal before gal

Plot: Hiccup is confused on who to be with. His girlfriend Astrid? Or his bestfriend Merida?

Hiccup

I saw Merida walking down the stairs, alone. "Hey Mer!" I called as I ran after her.

She turned to me a bit and looked away and continued walking. I don't know why, but I felt hurt and guilty. Wonder what's gotten into her.

I continued running and lay my hand on my shoulder the time I got behind her. "Merida... wait..." I told her and she stopped.

She turned around and she had tear marks on her cheeks. Did she cried?

"Are you okay?" I asked her, putting both of my hands on her shoulders.

She shook her head. "How would Aye be okay if mah bestfriend din't spend time with meh just because he had a gurlfriend?" She huffed, clenching my wrists.

I lowered my head in shame, because I know she's talking about me. "Merida, I'm so sorry. It's just... Astrid always insist me to go date with her." I apologized.

Mer sighed. "And that doesn't mean that ye would cancel our bonding." She said, letting go of my wrist.

I sighed and try to form a smile. "I'll tell you what, let's go to Arcade later for my apology." I told her, letting go of her shoulders.

She looked up to me with her perfect smile. "Really!?" She squeaked.

I nodded. "Yeah, and I hope you forgive me." I said.

She nodded. "Apology accepted." And before she walked away, "Later, at 5pm. Fetch me at mah house." She told me and I nodded as she walked away.

**later**

"HICCUUUUPP!!!!" I suddenly heard someone screamed. I turned around and it's my girlfriend Astrid.

"Oh, hey Astrid..." I responded ackwardly.

"Me. You. Date. Later. 5. Fetch me later at my house." She told me and walked away.

Awts... another fucking date with her... wait... did she just said... later at 5!?

"Astrid, wait... I can't go--" I tried to tell her, but she cutted me off.

"You have to, Hic! It's very important! So please fetch me later." She said.

"But, I had--" I said, but again, she cutted me off.

"No buts, Hiccup. You need to have a date with me later whether you like it or not." She stated and continued walking away.

I sighed and go back to the library to clear my mind.

**fast forward at home**

I wore a green plaid shirt, brown pants, and sneakers and went outside the house and stood up in the porch just to see Merida and Astrid's house alongside each other and across mine.

Okay, Haddock, you must pick the right choice.

Astrid is your girlfriend. Although, she's not that fun to be with. It'd be rude if I cancelled our date, but we're just dating too much.

Merida... well... she's my bestfriend since Kindergarten. We used to hangout with each other until me and Astrid became an item. She felt alone after that. And... and...

Suddenly, my feelings toward her before... came back to me. I had feelings for her and I forgot about it when me and Astrid turned into an item. I suddenly remembered it now and it swiftly enters in me.

I closed the gates before going outside, and glanced at the two once again.

"I know where to go..." As I walked through Merida's house, I mean, why not?

**in Merida's house porch**

I was about to knock, until I felt a vibration in my pocket. I yanked my phone and it has text, from Astrid.

Hiccup... I'm sorry...

My head turned into a confusion as I began typing to reply.

To: Astrid

What do you mean? Are you okay?

I had to break up with you, because I'm secretly in love with Eret.

I felt myself getting angry, but turned relief. I really knew that long ago.

It's fine. I ain't mad. I'm in love with someone else too.

Then, I shoved my phone in my pocket and was about to press the doorbell, until it opened, revealing Merida.

She looked stunning in her blue green shirt and skinny jeans. "You look stunning..." I commented.

She blushed. "Oh, puh-lease." She said, nudging.

"Let's go?" She asked and I nodded as we both went out of her porch and through the arcade.

Hanging out with bestfriend is better than having a date.
