Nightmares or Visions?

Sebastian's story

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------    "I'm so sorry that you had to find out this way.  I've wanted to tell you every since the night of the party but it was never the right time.  I know your mad and hurt but I'd really like the chance to explain."  Sebastian's head hung low as he said the words.  I just nodded my head for him to continue. 

   "You know, Susie, sometimes it's easy to imagine that I'm just an average seventeen year old kid.  Especially when I'm with you.  You make it so easy to just forget all the things I've seen and done in the past.  And for that I thank you!," he gave a slight smile then continued.  "I know it's hard for you to except what I am right now but just know that I didn't choose to be this way.  No one would ever choose this for themselves.  Like Dimitri said, I was seventeen when it happened.  It was just me and my brothers after our parents died and Dimitri was working most of the time.  One night Dimitri came home alittle late, he had a girl with him, she said her name was Alexa.  He said he found her walking along the road and she seemed lost.  He asked her if she needed help and invited her back to our place.  She seemed nice enough and said she only needed to rest a bit then she'd be on her way.  I could tell that Dimitri was drawn to her beauty.  I wasn't sure why but for some reason she made me nervous!  There was just something about the way she looked at Jillian.  He was still very sensitive about our parents dying so when Alexa offered to play with him he jumped at the chance.  I guess he missed our mother being around more then I realized.  We all sat down to have dinner and I noticed that Alexa just picked at her food.  Said she wasn't hungry.  Afterwards Jillian asked her to come up to his room to tuck him in before she left.  He seemed excited to have a woman in the house.  Alexa excepted his offer and they were soon headed upstairs.  I had a feeling in my gut telling me to stop her from going with him alone but I felt so sorry for him that I thought maybe I was just being paranoid.  I wish now, like I've wished for the past two hundred and thirty three years, that I would've listened to my gut and taken him upstairs myself."

   I noticed that Sebastian had began to shake so I put my hand over his and told him to take his time.  I could tell he really didn't like talking about his past but this was something that I needed to know.

   After a few minutes Sebastian calmed down and started talking again.  "It wasn't long before Alexa came back down stairs.  She said Jillian was fast asleep.  I could tell how much Dimitri didn't want her to go when he offered her to stay in our guest room.  Maybe he felt like it had been too long without a woman in the house as well.  Everything was okay for a few days until I started noticing that Alexa still wasn't eating.  My brothers didn't seem to notice but I sure did.  How could she never eat....that wasn't natural right?"  I just nodded and he continued.

   "One night after dinner I felt like I couldn't keep my eyes open, I was so tired.  I went to bed early but not before making sure Jillian was tucked in and sound asleep.  I'm not sure how long I had been asleep when I was woke up by Dimitri.  He was screaming something about Jillian but I was so out of it I couldn't understand until I saw what he was holding.  It was my little brother.  He was so bloody and still.  Both sides of his throat looked as if someone had chewed on it.  I couldn't believe what I was seeing but somehow I knew the SHE was the one who had done it."

   Sebastian jumped up from where he sat and started pacing the floor but continued to talk.  "He was only 8 years old Susie.  My poor brother was dead at eight years old!  I began looking for Alexa, I was gonna kill her if that was the last thing I did.  I couldn't have been half way across the house when I heard Dimitri scream. I raced upstairs to find him laying on the floor in a pile of his own blood gripping his neck.  I yelled her name and went searching....I would find Alexa and when I did, I would show no mercy.  I had just rounded the corner into the living room when she grabbed me.  She was SO strong!  She looked me in the eyes and suddenly I felt like I was paralyzed...I couldn't move, couldn't fight back.  And then it happened...she bit into my neck sending a pain no words could describe all through my body.  I thought I was gonna die.  Strangely enough, after a few minutes I was no longer scared.  She soon released me and I fell to the ground bleeding then blacked out.  I'm not sure how long I was asleep but when I woke up I was in my bed.  At first I was relieved and thought that it had all just been a bad dream.  As soon as I set up and looked around I knew that wasn't the case.  Everything was brighter and I could hear SO clearing.  I should've been scared but I wasn't, I really didn't feel anything except anger.  What had she done to me?  I knew that Jillian was dead but what about Dimitri?  I raced downstairs to find Dimitri sitting at the table.  He had a drink in his hand that I swore I could smell.  It smelled wonderful and I was suddenly SO hungry!" 

  Sebastian stopped pacing long enough to ask me if it was okay to continue or if it was all becoming too much to handle.  Just like I had done with Pookie before, I lied and told him I was fine and to keep going.

   Sebastian told me that what his brother had been drinking was blood.  I know that should have bothered me but for some reason it didn't.  He said that Dimitri told him he had been asleep for nearly a month.  He told him that he had buried Jillian beside their parents and offered to take Sebastian to him.  Dimitri also explained what they had become.  He told Sebastian that he had been searching for Alexa but had not found her.  He had only figured out what they were by accident.  When he passed a man in the alley that had cut himself and the blood called to Dimitri.  He soon figured out that he could survive on regular food but every so often had to drink blood or would become too weak. For hundreds of years the two brothers stayed to themselves.  Eventually they decided to try to live as if they were normal.  Dimitri began searching for a job that suited him while Sebastian looked for a school.  They both went thru several before finding a place...Sebastian at Dillian Hall and Dimitri opened an antique gun shop. No one ever realizing that the person fixing and selling the guns was actually the oldest thing in the shop. 

  With that I let out a little chuckle.  I mean in no way was the story funny but it was all just so surreal.  My boyfriend was actually a vampire.  My friends were also made up of a witch and a mind reader with other gifts of sort.  What was I gonna find out next?
