Choices and Separation

After we escaped TLPC we lived on the run while still helping our nation's people grow and prevail. At the same time, we sought information on your locations and studied different fighting techniques. We used Kyoko's magic to teleport in and out of the League's government buildings and we used Arwen's and my own tech skills to hack away at their databases. That's how we came to find you. That's how we prevailed. That's our hidden Nation's story. That's our story.

Japan's POV: The room was silent, not a single one of us countries saying a thing as we processed this. I felt disbelief swamp me and a giant gaping hole seemed to swallow me. There was something like that happening for the last 2,000 years? Right under our noses...

My head whipped up as a strained voice echoed around the otherwise soundless room. It was Italy. "S-So what should we do?" All eyes turned back to Scarlett. She looked down, then back at Arwen and the others, then back at us.

"We need you to come with us to several different safe-houses that we can properly protect you at," She spread her hands in a slightly desperate matter as she continued, "The League won't be able to find you with us. We've be hiding for years now, we know how." She let out a small laugh. "It also helps that the Major is a total idiot." I felt a smirk grace my face, but I quickly hid it as Italy's small voice spoke up in obvious fear.

"Can they find us here?" Italy jumped up from his chair and ducked behind Germany, Germany placing his hand on Italy's red hair and patting his head, trying to calm him. Italy's tears of fear dried until, eventually, he was only sniffling. Germany's deep blue eyes looked up and connected with Scarlett's dark brown ones.

"Are ve safe here? This group... TLPC... Can they find us here?" Scarlett's gaze was uncertain for a moment, but she shook her head.

"Not for now, but sooner or later they might. That's why we need you to do something." I tried to speak up but I failed to as another wave of panic crashed over me. What does she mean by sooner or later? Instead America asked the question I wanted to ask.

"What do you want us to do? We have to continue to help our own bosses; we can't just disappear on them."

I heard England mutter something, "That's the most responsible thing I think he's ever said." He sounded...dare I say...proud? Of America? The one he always yells and screams at?

"You won't have to quit advising your leaders. Arwen and I have a system set up to where you will be able to access and talk to your bosses on a secure network we built. It will be nearly impossible to track you on that system."

"If we don't have to stop communications with our bosses, then there is no problem, da," Russia asked, looking around. All the countries exchanged glances before nodding and words of agreement rose from the group. Many of them stood up to show their support, while others still sat with determined looks in their eyes. I guess it's decided then. I started to stand up, pushing myself off of the chair I had been sitting in, a small indention the only indication that I had ever been there.

Scarlett's voice raised over everyone else's, bringing my motions to a stop, "There's one more thing we need you to do, but we don't think you'll like it..." She looked behind her and Aridan stood up, followed by Luna and the others. I saw their shoulders stiffen in preparedness and I held my breath as the tension built up in the room.

"We need you guys to get into groups and we're going to split up and separate to different locations." Scarlett spoke as though she was ripping off a bandage. The room was deathly silent.

Then all hell broke loose. Voices that just one second ago spoke in agreement were now thick with anger and fear. "What?!"

"YOU WANT US TO SPLIT UP?!"

"ARE YOU CRAZY?!"

Arwen's voice rose above it all, making the chaos die down, if just a little. "Listen to us! If we separate then not only is it easier to protect you, but if one group is caught then the others can work together to get them out! This is the best way." The finality in her voice put to rest all remaining opposition in one sweep. She kinda reminded me of the German's I've worked with. Speaking of which, Germany and Prussia were looking at her with new found respect in their eyes. What an impression.

Little by little, all the standing countries took their seats once again and everyone hushed, waiting for the girl's to decide the groups. The girl's looked at each other, confused. "Does this mean that you want us to decide who's with who?"

We all bobbed our heads in agreement while a single, quiet, "Yes," resonated around the room. I believe it was Russia though I wasn't quite sure. It was like we all had said the same thing, yet only one person spoke at all. This is very strange for us... Getting along like this...

"Alright then, here are the groups..."

THEY'VE DECIDED ALREADY?!

*Slight time jump*

At the end of ten minutes, I was in Scarlett's group with China, and the other South Asian countries like Hong Kong.

Kyoko had England, America, France, Sealand, and Canada, plus the Nordics.

Luna had Romano, Italy, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein.

Arwen had Prussia, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Hungry, Greece, and Turkey.

Aridan had Russia, the Three Baltic Nations, Poland, Belarus, and Ukraine.

Is it just me or do I sense a pattern here?
