Relief washed over me and I took a step closer, noticing how a lot of her wounds had healed but how a lot more had only scarred over. I placed my hand over top of hers, being careful as to not touch a particularly angry looking scab.

Her skin was cold.

"I don't think you can handle this." I stared into her eyes for a minute before looking back. Aridan's face was twisted in torture and her breathing was fast and uneven. Just looking at her like this made me hurt. I slowly took a step back, turning away.

"Fine." I'll leave, but I won't be far...

Sweat was present across her brow and her breathing was erratic. I reached to cup her face when another hand grabbed my own.

"Let Turkey fix her up." Austria's voice in my ear made me freeze. He dragged me from the room, not stopping until Arwen was out of my sight.

Still tight with worry I finished wrapping up her up in bandages and had America carry her to her room, watching him as he walked away. Her head was against his shoulder and her bangs hid her eyes from my view. France's hand clapped me on the back.

"Are you okay Mon Ami?" I merely shrugged and started to followed America into Kyoko's room.

"I'm not sure France... I'm just not sure anymore..."

No... That couldn't be it... I promised myself I'd never have a connection like that ever again.

I intended to keep my promise.

And yet my chest continued to hurt into the night.

Scarlett's POV: I woke up sweating, my body on fire and my head spinning. Eyes shooting open I tried to calm my breathing, letting my eyes adjust to the dim lights that assaulted my vision. A faint beeping caught my attention and I turned my head, flinching as an on-slot of agony wracked my body. I managed to make out the familiar sight of an IV bag leading down to my arm and I sucked in a painful breath.

What...happened? I struggled to remember, my memories fuzzy. Then it hit me. Very slowly I began to put together the pieces of my puzzle.

There was a rebellion in Central, the spot that led to the tunnels connecting our five islands. The girl's and I joined up to take prisoners and one of the Fugitives made an appearance. After that I handled James while the girl's kept the other attackers off my back. I got shot but succeeded in killing James the Fugitive... and then... And then what?

I remember hearing an explosion go off and then... nothing. Not a thing... Wait. No, Arwen and the others found me and someone showed up and set off another explosion. Which means that... they got caught up in the blast to?!

I sat up, biting down on my lip with a strangled whimper. My side felt like I'd been ripped apart from the waist down, making me afraid to look down and see. I took a steadying breath and braced myself, allowing my eyes to skim down my body.

Some one had exchanged my bloody shirt and pants for one of my tank tops and pajama shorts, even switching out my socks. I placed my hand over my aching side and pulled my shirt up, revealing a large bandage. Other than for a small red spot there were no traces of the gore from the fight, everything clean and sterile looking. Even my room was starting to smell like a hospital.
