Guess what? I'm back and ready to finish this story off! That was quite the long break and I'm so sorry it took so long to come back but I started to really focus on my book and then my Undertale AU. But here I am, and here's a new chapter. Enjoy, and please know that I will attempt to upload a new chapter every week from now on until school starts back up.

Last time:

Then she lunged out of the snow and I froze, watching as her bones moved beneath her skin, fur appearing along her face and body. Her jaw lengthened, her eyes beginning to glow a deep blue as they changed. Her arms and legs became hairy and thin, paws forming where her hands and feet once were. Then she stood before me as a wolf.

Her fur was a deep brown, with black spots along her torso. Her tail was bushy, her coat appearing soft and well-groomed. She turned her head to the sky and howled, my ears making out a familiar sound as she sped away, disappearing into the night and leaving me behind, "IVAN......"

I shivered at the pain and longing in her voice, feeling something wet travel down the length of my face. Reaching up I wiped away a droplet of water, recognizing it as a tear but not knowing why I was so upset. Why my heart felt like it was being ripped out and shredded. Why being left alone reminded me of that day so long ago when I was left behind again.

Russia's POV: The entire Kyoko cooking fiasco came to an end fairly quickly, and though I was typically okay with such shenanigans, after the late night I'd had... Well, I was in a pretty bad mood. So, I decided to keep to myself for much of the day, staying in my room and writing in one of my secret journals I'd started to use after the incident. It helped with clearing my head since I had years of history wrapped up in there which didn't leave much room for shifting easily through my emotions.

The page was soon full with the events of the last day and a half, describing the journey to The Center and Aridan's reaction to Canada's disappearance. She had seemed reserved, eyes closed off as she put the phone down, promising to be there within the next few hours. The words she had used to tell us of the events which had occurred was soft and trembling, her hands doing the same. Otherwise, she just told us to pack and left us to our own devices until it was time to pile into the car.

The drive had been mostly silent, Aridan putting on some music after a while to clear, or rather distract from, the awkward atmosphere. Having always been a secret lover of music, it was enough to do just that, as I took out some book I had pulled from her library and started to read, time flashing by swiftly.

Only when Belarus pulled on my shoulder and urged me to look outside did I see the beginning of a tunnel, which dipped into the sea and vanished, like some sea creature rising up from the depths to swallow us whole. Eyes wide, I watched it do so, having to wait to let my gaze adjust to the dimmer surroundings and yellowish lights. It didn't seem all that different from the usual, above ground tunnels that were used to go underground, but there were obviously steel supports and barriers everywhere, a testament to how much pressure the ocean was putting on the structure.

When we had arrived in the steel domed city it had been more than hard to peel our gazes away from the stretching sky of shining grey, but our beds had called to us strongly and we soon found ourselves heading into dreamland with nothing but that wonderful dreamless sleep that came with being exhausted. If it hadn't been for the fire alarms, I probably could have slept for much longer, despite my typical early morning routines.

Which brought me back to the present and the apparent rain storm outside.

I got up from my desk in confusion, leaving the pencil and paper behind to go and look out the only window in my room. One glance was enough to see that my ears had not been mistaken, pellets of water crashing to the gravel below and making everything a darker shade of grey. However, what caught my attention for sure were the five people battling it out in one of the only green spaces in this underwater vault.
