You know, living forever is not as fun as it may seem. There is a bunch of stuff that goes wrong. People die and leave you behind. You go through huge amounts of pain and on occasion, even torture. You get to watch the world go to shit and try to ma...
I twisted my body to the side, pain searing through the side of my head as I was tossed aside like a doll. I landed limply on the road, my head cracking open on contact. I hissed as someone grabbed my hair and made me look up. A bearded face stared down at me, grey eyes twinkling with malice as he smirked.
I heard Luna scream my name as he the man kicked me in the stomach, sending me rolling across the ground with a grunt. When I came to a stop he laughed, banding over and rubbing my face into the ground. "Where are they?"
"I won't tell you." He stabbed a blade through my hand, making me bite through my lip as I held in my cries.
"Give them to us."
"Never." He moved the knife further up my arm and stabbed it right above my wrist. He yanked it to the side, making a gash, before pulling it out. I screamed, causing Arwen to run towards me, but she was tackled to the ground by another attacker. Aridan rushed to her aid whilst Kyoko cast a spell, replenishing all of our energy.
I waited until he came closer, putting his face right in front of mine. "We will find them. Stop letting yourself get hurt over them and hand them over." I finally smiled, though it didn't reach my ears.
"I wouldn't expect you to understand." With that I shoved my body upwards, putting all my weight into it. The man flew off me, propelled by the force of my newly given, country enhanced strength. I held out my hand and my blade formed, a long katana with a black and gold hilt. I swung it once before taking a step towards the fallen man.
"James Wallace Holland," He scooted back in fear as I came closer, aiming to get to his feet. He turned and threw a small knife back at me, which I dodged easily.
I continued, "You have broken the law which clearly stats that no person should be found associating or providing assistance to the group known as TLPC. Under this felony you have murdered, kidnapped, and tortured several other humans, have you not?" He didn't answer as he took off down the fight filled street and I followed him, swinging my sword at anyone who came at me, putting them down easily.
"Because of these crimes you have committed, in the name of the Alliance of Five, you have been sentenced to death. What say you?" Again no reply was given, his black clad hand grabbing a hold of the nearest person and slitting their throat, using him as a shield as Kyoko fired round after round of magic amplified bullets at him. Using this as a distraction I dived and dragged James to the ground, sitting on his chest as he squirmed beneath me, eyes staring into mine in terror.
Funny how the tables have turned.
I brought my blade over my head and glared him into silence. "Any last words?" He merely looked back up at me, body shivering. Then he clenched his eyes shut.
"Just two."
"And what's that?"
"Look down." Eyes widening I jerked my head down to see a laser HJK1 pointed at my chest. It tried to move when he pulled the trigger, the loud sound ringing in my ears as agony flared through my body. That didn't stop my hands from bring down the sword though, the sickening sound of slicing flesh echoing after the fire. I felt his blood splash into my face as I pulled the sword out, my side flowing with its own source. I stood, looking down at his distorted face.
Then I raced back into the battle, rejoining Luna, Kyoko, Arwen, and Aridan as we finished off the small attack.
*****
Arwen's POV: Fire rose into the sky, staining the rising sun black. The world smelt of the metallic tang of blood and burning flesh. Looking around the surrounding buildings were in rubble, their windows smashed and their doors knocked in.
"Arwen, there you are!" The voice sent me spinning on my heel, raising my sword above my head. Aridan paused as she contemplated the weapon pointed at her chest. I quickly brought it away from her.
"Don't yell like that right after a battle." Looking around I didn't see anymore moving shapes through the murky air. "Where are the others?"
Aridan only shook her head, "I though they might be with you. You don't think-"
Guys get over here now!! Kyoko's panicked voice yelled in our heads, sending us running off to the left. Knowing precisely where they were was a talent we had discovered not long after using Kyoko's telepathy magic. Now it comes in handy when dealing with these situations.
We rounded a bend and came stumbling to a halt, the scene before us making our hearts stop. Scarlett laid on the ground, blood pooling underneath her as she struggled to breath. Kyoko and Luna were crouched over her, trying to stop the blood flow. I rushed forward, not waiting to see if Aridan followed me. I trusted her too.
I skidded onto my knees in front of my fallen friend, gazing at her shredded and broken body. It was almost as though she'd been caught up in an explosion. I grasped her shoulders, shaking her gently. "Scarlett? Wake up." She moaned softly, head falling to the side before her eyes opened.
"Arwen?" Her voice was hoarse and slightly squeaky, filled with pain.
"What happened to you?"
Suddenly her eyes enlarged and she sat herself up, letting out a screech as she did, blood flowing faster from the holes in her body. She gripped my shoulders staring me in the eyes, then swiveling her gaze to everyone else. "You have to get out of here. Leave me here and call for help."
Luna shook her head in disbelief, "What? Why? We can't just-"
"JUST CALL FOR HELP ALREADY. LEAVE ME HERE"
"Why," I asked her, searching her glare for answers. She was burning up with a fever and her face was pale from blood loss. Blood stained her skin, as it did everyone else's, and her eyes were unfocused. I was beginning to think she was just being over dramatic. Then...
Looking behind me her gaze turned fearful, "DUCK!" We did as she said, the sound of an explosion going off all around us. I was thrown to the ground, my skin ripping as shards of glass and other items dug into my skin. I yelled out in fury and agony, just as something hit me in the head. Blackness swarmed in my vision.
The last thing I heard was Kyoko's voice in my mind telling us to hold on, that she was teleporting us home.
The only thing I could think was that Prussia and the others were gonna be quite shocked when I got home.
The last thing I saw were a pair of booted feet walking out from behind a pile of rubble. I managed to look up and make out a grey hooded figure. My head slumped back into the dirt.
Darkness consumed me.
