You Must Come With Us

Last time:

All was silent, nobody daring to move as we all processed what had been said.

Then, one by one, the cloaked being's slowly moved their heads to face us. I readied my sword and felt the air turn dangerous. I heard the multiple cocking of guns and the distinct sound of metal swishing through the air as everyone brandished their swords and knives. It was almost instantly after that when the figure closest to the doors, the one that had held the cane, dropped her blade and raised her hands in a non threatening way, taking a small step forward despite all the weapons turned her way.

"Please lower your weapons, we're not here to hurt you." A foot sent the sword skittering across the floor where it stopped almost within my reach. I felt confusion wash over me. What the hell is going on?

*******

Scarlett's POV: As soon as the words "Never mind" left Aridan's lips I knew where we were. I also knew what type of situation we had just gotten ourselves into. I just couldn't believe it. A jolt of excitement raced through my heart and I let my head turn towards the direction she was facing, not quite believing my eyes. While my cloak covered my head and and hair I could still see perfectly. What I saw made my heart do leaps. There, right in front of us, were the people we had been searching for for so long. The Hetalians. Or as normal people would know them, the Countries.

God, its been too long...

Unfortunately, they didn't seem too happy to see us. Their weapons were raised towards our heads and their blades at our stomachs, faces taunt. The air was thick with tension, no one speaking a word. It didn't help that people were banging at the door behind us, panicked yelling coming from the other side. I mentally cursed the General, adding this as another way he was inhibiting us.

Glancing at my weapon, I quickly dropped my own sword and sent it across the floor with one swift kick, the clang making everyone jump. I winced slightly, waiting for one of the countries to attack. Thankfully no one got spooked enough to let off a shot. No need to give them a reason to shoot us, but I felt as if I made the right decision in disarming myself. The thought of getting shot was not a pleasant one. It wouldn't kill us, but who wants to get shot? No one that's who... I really need to stop answering my mental questions...

Shaking my head slightly, I raised my hands in a non-threatening way as I watched their faces register confusion, which soon turned into pure mystification as the others dropped their swords, knives, and guns as well, sending them across the floor just as I had. We were all in agreement then. I spoke quietly, watching as many of the countries tightened their grips on their weapons. I tried not to look at any certain person, knowing what it would seem like if they realized we knew them already.

"We're not here to hurt you, so please lower your weapons. We don't have much time." I could see the look of fear hidden behind their eyes, the uncertainity. Not long ago they would have listened to my words with ready ears, but not now. Not for the new me. A longing pang traveled up my spine as I imagined the old days. I could tell by the way the other girls were shifting that they felt the same. These people were like family to us, they just didn't know it. Wow... that sounded really stalkerish didn't it? I couldn't help but smirk at my thoughts, but that quickly came to a close as Ludwig cocked his pistol and I felt my body automatically tense.

" Vho are jou people?" Ludwig's face was icy as he stared at us and I realized that we still looked plenty suspicious with these cloaks on. Who wouldn't be cautious around people wearing all black with multiple weapons and obvious fighting skill? We might be able to see past our hoods, but they definitely couldn't. Kyoko's magic would prevent them from seeing any parts of our body, just the outlines. Now that I think about it, why did we wear these in the first place? The guards already knew who we are.
