Many of the participants were beginning to lose interest in Kurt's lengthy instructions and we're slowly being enthralled by the mountains of food singing to them, calling them to eat. Pyro even managed to fall asleep while waiting, which displeased Kurt, causing him to slap Pyro in the back of the head. The King found this relatively amusing, which Chad had caught in the corner of his eye.
These little actions that Chad was observing, gave him a small insight into life in the palace.

No amount of food or instruction could stop him gazing at the marble pillars and parquetry flooring made with dark oak and spruce wood interlocking to create beautifully intricate designs. The rooftop dome painted with stories of Kings gone by, with spaces left for the future rulers. He was hoping to see pictures of amour clad men on horseback, led by a man with bright red hair.
Hmmm, this roof is missing a dash of colour. I can fix that!

These thoughts began racing through his mind, captivating his imagination. But the silence was broken when Guude spoke with his booming voice after Kurt had finished. He wished the participants the best and said a small prayer to Notch. They bowed their heads in silence, and then eagerly waited the word from the king to begin eating.

It seemed like a race. The king raised his hand and the men began piling their plates with exotic foods, while the king ate what he usually did of a morning. The table was full of pastries, bread, butter and jams, meat and sausages, eggs and a plethora of seasonings. Chad however was not interested in these foods, he called for a guard to ask a chef to prepare a salad for him. While he waited, Chad could hear nothing but the munching and chewing of his fellows peers while trying to clear his mind.

The hall once again fell to silence as the chef waltzed out with a salad on a plate, and served it to Chad. People stared at him, confused as to why he refused to eat the jewels layered upon the table before him. Chad turned to the King. Guude smiled upon Chad's choice. He saw a piece of him flicker in Chad's eyes. Knowing now that he was special, the king was to be notified of his actions. He know that Chad would bring him joy in this time.
