The First Challenge

Twas the next day, and the participants were to meet in the courtyard of the palace for their first task. The trials and tribulations that King Guude had set before them was nothing short of dancing through the Nether and back. The king made sure that the challenges were not tailored to these with set skills, to keep them fair and just. As a. King should.

Kurt once again positioned himself at the front of the line of men and outlined their instructions for this challenge. They were to traverse the town.
Blindfolded.
"The challenge is in case of an emergency and people need to leave the town, this can help you save lives. It can also..." Instructed Kurt as he went on and on about the duties of a King.

The challenge began. People were stumbling around and running into walls, market stands and people. Some people felt their way around, others had a brief idea of where they were going. Chad however did something unusual. He walked straight ahead and stopped.
"Your majesty, Chad appears to have stopped in the middle of the street" Kurt said, confused. "I have an idea of what he might be doing Kurt, leave him be" Guude replied.
All of a sudden, Chad moved perfectly through the streets without hitting a single then. Then he stopped "He's done it again sire, can you tell me what he's doing?" Kurt implored "He's asking for directions" said the King with complete certainty.
Guude was right. Chad was stopping to ask for directions. Because he had no bad word to say of the townsfolk, anyone he asked helped him with no hesitation. Chad was slowly inching his way to the finish.

The results were in. All parties had reached the finish sooner or later, and it was now time to let them know the results. "Sevadus, congratulations, you placed first. Seth, you with second and surprisingly Chad with third place." Kurt revealed. The men congratulated each other and waited for the kings congratulations. "Well done, all of you. You can now retire to the palace for supper and sleep off the night. I shall see you all there" stated King Guude.

Chad had placed. This was a win in his books, and another step closer to achieving what he dreamed forever. A better life for him and all those around him.
