Breaking the Silence

Time passed slowly in Mindcrack for several months. Nothing happened to change the mood. However today was a day to award those who influence and earned a congratulations from a special friend.

"Sevadus and Jsano. I award you both with a medal for bravery and loyalty. Saving lives isn't easy and doing it for a living would be even harder. Thank you"

"Aureylian, I award you also with bravery. And for your actions, I have decided that women can take any occupation that a man can. I believe that you have shown that equality will always come out on top"

"And finally, Cella and Waffles. You both have been by my side for many years. The things that we've done are priceless memories that I will never forget, no matter my age. The two of you are my only family. And I feel that at my core, you both shaped me to be the man I am today. So thank you"

Chad placed a medal around each of their necks and handed his cats some food for staying still for so long.

It was now time to go. Twas the end of the day and he needed an escape. He went to see Doc.
"Dry martini commin' up man" said Doc. He could always speck casually around Chad, no matter his status.
"Hey Doc" asked Chad. Doc looked up at waited for him to continue.
"Did you ever think I would get to where I am now if you saw me as a boy again?" Inquired Chad. "Never in a million years, but I knew there was something there. Locked inside. You just needed to find the key" replied Doc.

He was always good with analogies. Sappy, yet memorable.
Suddenly, Sev walked into the bar, ordered a spirit, took the shot and looked at Chad in a way that he knew meant 'we need to talk'.
Chad thanked Doc for his generosity over the many years and was escorted back to the palace.

He waited him his chambers for a knock on the door. It was Sev.
"Chad, you will always be my best friend. No matter how far we are apart" said Sevadus.
"Of course, why wouldn't we be?" Questioned Chad.
"I wish to travel"
"Ok"
"For a long time. I want to map all the stars, see what's out there. Is that ok?"
"Why do you need to ask me for my permission?" Chad questioned his friend.
"Because you're the King, and I didn't know if I was allowed" said Sev as he hung his head in shame.

"Of course you can go!" Laughed Chad.
Sevadus smiled as he hears those words. He began to walk out of the room when he was stopped, by a wall of words. Kind things said about his tribulations in his life. He turned around once more.
