The fight was on. It was the day of the second challenge. The brief from Kurt was short and sweet. "Men will be men, and men need know how to fight. What good is a king if he can't lead his men to a victory for the ages?!" He yelled in a Sargent type manner.
"I call upon those of you who are willing to challenge the man before you to best your skills and prove your worth to the King"
Kurt's enthusiasm was almost unsettling.
Once the challengers were changed and equipped with the appropriate 'weapons', the fighting began. Their opponents were two retired war soldiers, Baj and Jsano. Baj was to be the first contender. If any defeated Lord Baj, they would progress to Jeff, a less forgiving man when it comes to a fight.

One by one, the men were failing sharp iron posts towards one another, it could have been deemed unsafe. The finalists were determined. Four men were to battle with Jeff. They were Beef, MC, Pyro and Milbee. Two of the men were successful. Beef and Milbee were now made to square off with each other in two tasks, one of swordsmanship and the other of accuracy. Milbee always knew the weak spots of others when it came to fighting, and this was no exception. He jabbed Beef in many places that could force a man to cry. And triumphantly, Milbee won the swordsmanship task. The accuracy task was to consist of long range archery...
No easy feat.
At this point, Chad was staring aimlessly at the sky to make shapes from the clouds. He began looking at the men to determine their strategy. Beef needs to pull up his arm, and Milbee should have his arm guard closer to his wrist, and what?! Kurt's instructions are terrible! Chad's thoughts exclaimed inside his head.

"Sir Kurt!!" Chad yelled from across the shooting range, "Can I give some instruction? It seems that you aren't the best at archery either"
Kurt took offence to this remark and looked at the King for question. Guude shrugged and allowed for Chad to demonstrate how to hold the bow and fire and arrow.
"Beef, raise your left elbow like this, and Milbee, pull down your arm guard, you'll thank me later". Chad decided to fire a warning shot for demonstration. All watched in anticipation as Chad raised his arm, stringed and arrow and gracefully pulled away his fingers as the arrow soared through the air like a beautiful bird, flying straight in the sky.

Moments later, the arrow landed on the big red dot with a twang and a wobble as it pierced the hay bale. Staring in awe, Kurt applauded Chad for his impeccable skills and employees the two men to try and do the same. Guude, impressed also, saw a new spark in Chad. He saw that he could lead a group without being asked. And helped others with no question. He was beginning to uncover more about him each day. Milbee stepped up to the range and landed a few inches away from the bullseye. Reasonably chuffed with himself, he handed the bow to beef for him to test his skills.

The arrow twanged once again and landed only centimetres form Chad's arrow. Beef had won, by the slimmest for margins. He commended Milbee for his efforts as the men waited for the Kings congratulations.
"Beef, Milbee, you have both been successful in this challenge and are now standing in the ranks with the likes of Seth, Chad and Sevadus" commended the king. "And Chad, sharp shooting, keep it up"
Chad was pleased with this remark and was no longer fearful of letting others down and confidently instructing others.
Chad began to feel better about himself. Maybe this was his goal.
