Harry’s P.O.V.
When I came to, I looked around at my surroundings. I was upside down; my body laid across Edgar’s to shield him. I checked for his pulse and saw he had a good steady heartbeat. I dragged myself out of the broken window and hissed at the pain in my stomach. There was a large piece of glass piercing me nearly all the way through. I pulled it out, gritting my teeth in pain, and as soon as I did I felt the wound already beginning to heal. I pulled Edgar out by his legs and sat him on the side of the road. Then I went to the Driver’s side and pulled out Dylan.
I examined him and sighed in relief when I saw the damage wasn’t too bad. His heartbeat was steady. His nose was a bit crooked, possibly broken from the impact of the airbag, and there were several cuts on his face and arms. Other than that, he’d live. I then limped to the other side and ripped open Samantha’s door. Unlocking her seatbelt and pulling her out into the road.
I wiped her hair out of her face and listened for her pulse. It was slow, too slow. Her face pale and blood dripping from a gash on her forehead. I stared at the blood for what felt like an eternity. The wet, warm, sticky liquid that made my stomach growl. Just the idea of that red silk running down my throat was enough to make me turn into my true face. But then I heard it…
“Thump…thump…thump…”
Her heartbeat getting less and less. I felt like the world was spinning as I heard the sound get fainter and fainter. I laid her down in the road and bit the skin of my wrist. Letting my cold blood spill out on my skin. I held my wrist by her mouth; much similar as the way she did to me earlier and tilted her head back forcing her to drink.
“C’mon Sam.” I whispered. Hoping somewhere in there she’d hear me and force herself to swallow the blood. She began groaning and began to stir. I smiled as I realized she must’ve taken some, she wouldn’t be moving right now if she hadn’t. Her eyes opened and she looked up at me. I smiled down at her. “Consider this my thank you.” I grinned.
She moved my hand from her mouth and attempted to sit up. I pushed her lightly by her shoulder, trying to keep her from moving. “What happened?” She croaked.
“Your friend’s a bad driver.”
“No.” She said shaking her head. “Who was in the road?” She mumbled.
I shrugged at her. “I didn’t see his face.”
I heard Dylan stir and I looked over at him, but before that I heard sirens in the distance, that’s when I stiffened. The last thing we needed was to go to the hospital. That would just bring more attention to Sam and my Family. Our house burning down and getting into a car accident all on the same night does seem a bit suspicious. Plus, my stomach was still healing, and so was Sam’s concussion. How would we explain to the Doctor’s that we were suddenly fine?
“Sammy, stand up.” I picked her up easily by her waist and walked her over to where Dylan and Edgar sat. I sat her next to Dylan and paused when I heard the sirens getting closer. If I took Sam, and just left Edgar and Dylan here, I’d never hear the end of it. I kneeled down to Sam, and grabbed her face with my hands. The gash on her forehead was getting smaller and smaller, and she was becoming more coherent. I looked her in the eyes. “Listen, the ambulance is coming; it’s going to take the three of you to the hospital. As soon as you get there, I’m going to get you out. Okay?”
She looked at me confusion. “Where are you going to go?”
“I’m going to cut through the woods to get to the hospital; I’ll meet you guys there.”
She grabbed my hand and squeezed tightly. “Wait…”
“I’m going to come back for you, I promise.” I kissed her forehead that was now only bruised and began to walk off.
