Edgar’s P.O.V.

I was sitting in my office with my feet propped up on my desk, a cigarette in one hand and a glass of whiskey in the other. I knew he’d be coming any moment and I knew that when he was here, I didn’t want to be sober. I swirled the liquid in the glass before downing the rest. The warm drink burning my throat as it went down.

"Hello Brother." A voice echoed behind me.

I closed my eyes and sighed deeply. I turned around in the chair and stared across the room at my dead Brother. “Allen." I said slowly. Letting it all sink in…

He walked towards me slowly; he chuckled before glaring down at his feet. “You should be ashamed of yourself. Letting those fangers in your house, around your boy. What’re you thinking?"

I stood up slowly before walking over to my weapon cabinet. “You’re dead Allen. A restless spirit…whatever anger you’re feeling isn’t you."

I heard something deep within his chest rumble with anger as he spoke. “I am dead." He hisses. “So is your wife. You know how we died? Vampires! Fucking vampires!"

"I know Allen. I’m left with that reminder every day; you don’t have to tell me."

"Obviously I do!" He yelled.

I opened the armory calmly. Reaching for a thing of salt and then closing it. I turned to Allen and looked down. “Leave." I said.

He looked at the salt and sighed. “Salt represents purity, and I’m not so pure anymore am I?"

"Brother, I’m going to find the person that has disturbed you and the other spirits, and them I’m going to kill them. For now, I can’t have you running around scaring everybody!"

I tightened my grip on the can of salt and stared at him hard in the eyes. He just sighed once more before sitting on the desk. “Your boy is going to die Edgar."

My eyes widened and I felt the anger building up. “I won’t allow it." I growled.

"That bitch is gonna get him and you killed. Get rid of her, kick her ass out on the side of the road; Dylan would thank you in the end."

"He’d hate me. You know he would. Besides, Sammy is family."

"Sammy causes people to die!" He hissed.

"Allen, I’m not going to tell you again. Leave, or I’ll bring Star back and we’ll banish you from this place. You know that won’t be pretty."

Allen looked at me sideways before standing to his feet. He stood in front of me and cocked his head. “It’s not him dying that you fear is it? It’s him becoming like you, like us…a Hunter." He smiled wickedly before leaning in. “Well, let me tell you something little Brother, if he doesn’t die, that’s exactly what he’ll become."

I shook my head and turned my back on him. “No.” I growled.

“He’s so innocent, so pure. But this life, the life that you have dragged him into, will make him compromise everything that he holds dear. Your sweet little boy, is gonna become you, and there is not a god damn thing you can do to stop it.”

“You’re wrong!” I yelled. “Dylan is gonna get out of this place, he’s gonna live a long good life. I won’t allow him to end up like us! I won’t Allen!”

He looked up at me, and for a moment, I could’ve sworn there was grief in his eyes. But that grief was quickly masked with amusement. “He will become a hunter Edgar. That’s our curse. It’s been this way for generations. As long as your blood flows through his veins, he has the same fate as us, you know it’s true.”
