As I opened my eyes I was in a daze. Where was I? How did I get here? And what the hell is sticking out of my arm? I looked around the unfamiliar room and paused when I saw a boy. I tried to sit myself up but I was too weak. He must have seen me stirring because he turned to me with wide eyes.

“Dylan?” I croaked.

He jumped up spastically and ran out the room screaming. “NURSE! SHE’S AWAKE! SAMMY’S AWAKE!” He ran back in the room quickly and jumped on the bed I was laying on. He pulled me into a hug and then roughly grabbed my face in his hands. “Oh my God! Are you okay? How many of me do you see? Are you thirsty? Do you have amnesia? Who’s the president? What year is it…?” I covered his mouth to cut his rambling off, knowing he could go on forever.

“Dylan, I’m okay.” I said slowly. He let my words sink in and then laid out next to me on the bed. Pulling me tightly against him.

“Don’t ever do this shit to me again.” He mumbled.

Suddenly two women walked in who I assumed to be my nurse and doctor. One of them looked at Dylan in annoyance. “Get off of her! You don’t need to rile her up while she’s in this condition.” He got up from the bed and sat in the chair, not looking the older woman in the face the entire time.

“Condition?” I mumbled. “How did…why am I in the hospital?” I asked with raised eyebrows.

The woman with the clip board walked over to me and checked the needles that were sticking out of my arm. One was connected to an I.V. and the other to a plasma bag. Was I in an accident? Nothing hurts, well, except my head. Other than that I just feel really groggy, and fatigued.

“We think you had an anemic episode. You passed out and were unresponsive when your friend brought you in last night. It was strange because you didn’t have any wounds except for a few bruises from the fall, but your blood volume was dangerously low. Your parents are in the lobby signing papers for you to stay overnight. You’ll be released in the morning if you’re in good enough condition.”

The woman seemed so uninterested in the topic as she scrawled away on her clipboard. The nurse simply fiddled with my I.V. before exiting the room and leaving us alone with Dylan and the doctor. The doctor turned to me once again. “Do you remember anything before your episode?” She asked in boredom.

“Um…” My head was in a complete haze. I remember going to the game with Micah, and then him disappearing and me looking for him, but after that it’s completely blank. Like it was a puzzle and I was missing the most important piece to tie the whole thing together. But for the life of me, it was just blank. “No, nothing.” I sighed.

She sighed as well, except in annoyance, before turning on her heel. “Alright then, I’ll get your parents and let them know you’re up.” She called over her shoulder as she walked out the room.

“What a bitch.” Dylan laughed.

“Right, hey, thanks for taking me to the hospital. It’s so weird, I’ve never blacked out like that before.”

“What? I didn’t take you, I wasn’t at the game, remember?”

Oh yeah. “Well if you didn’t take me than who did?”

“Uh, that British guy that lives across the street from you. What’s his name? Um…Louigi!”

“Louis?”

He snapped his fingers and nodded. “Yeah! That’s the guy!”

“Oh, well, next time you see him, will you tell him I said thank you?”

“Of course.” Dylan smiled before kissing me on the forehead. My parents came bursting in and before I knew it my mom was showering me with kisses all over my face.
