Chapter 24: Tattletale

Demi's POV

I walk to Kate's office feeling nervous, I hope she's here. The door is closed so I knock a few times, I hear her voice from inside telling me to come in. I open the door and walk in, Kate is sitting at her desk with a mountain of papers. She looks up at me in a glance and goes back to her work, I close the door behind me knowing nobody from the outside can hear what i'm about to tell her.

" Hey Demi, is there any chance that you can come back later. I'm super busy. " Kate says not letting her eyes leave her work.

" Well it's kind of really important. " I say hoping she'll have time to listen, it's now or never.

" Everything alright? " Kate asks still not moving her eyes, I sit in the chair across from her gulping. I'm really nervous actually.

" Well...I know who has been sneaking in all the alcohol. " I say slowly, she drops her pencil and looks up at me. I guess she wasn't expecting to hear that from me.

" Who is it Demi? " She asks eagerly giving me all of her attention. I gulp again knowing I have to tell her now, i'm just nervous of Sterling finding out.

" Well it's...Sterling. " I say slowly knowing that it's done now, I can't take it back.

" How do you know this Demi? " She asks me with curiosity, how am I supposed to answer that?

" Um...a friend of his told me. I can't tell you who that person is though. " I say hoping that reveals nothing about Bec. Kate looks at me for a second processing this information, she doesn't look happy. Sterling is one of her clients.

" Thank you for telling me Demi, it must of been hard. " She says standing up and walking around her desk and to the door.

" It's time for you to go now. " She says opening the door for me, this surprises me.

" Can I ask you to do something though for me Kate? " I ask hoping she will say yes.

Sterling's POV

I walk down the hall towards my adviser's office, I have to ask her about mailing a letter back home. I see her door open lucky to catch her, but that's when I hear a voices.

" It's time for you to go now. " I hear Kate's voice echo through the hall coming from insider her room, I stop dead on my tracks wondering what's going on.

" Can I ask you to do something though for me Kate? " I hear another voice ask, it sounds like that one hot girl's voice. I think her name is Debby or something, she's the one that hit me in the library after I kissed her.

" What is it Demi? " I hear Kate ask, mental note that the girl's name is Demi, not Debby.

" Can you keep it a secret that I was the one who told you it was him? " Demi asks making me more curious, what are they talking about?

" Yeah I can do that, I need to go find him right away so if you could just go back to the room for a while, that would be best. " Kate replies, that's when I see the two of them emerge from the room. Demi's eyes meet mine and they go wide, Kate looks over at me and does not look happy. What the hell is going on?

" Sterling, we need to talk. " Kate says to me, I look at Demi and now realize what they were talking about.

Demi's POV

I watch as Sterling turns around and sprints off towards the stairs which are closer than the elevator. Kate kicks off her high heels and runs off towards the elevator which is already opened, did this really just happen? Did he hear what Kate and I wear talking about? Did he now know that I tattled on him?

I run towards the elevator waiting for it to come back after Kate used it, I have no idea why i'm doing this. I have to see what's going on though. When the elevator doors open I walk out and see staff members surrounding Sterling against the wall. There's a bunch of people watching the scene, everybody must be curious on what's going on. He sees me and his face becomes red with anger, maybe I shouldn't have come down.

" You! " He screams and points at me, he then starts to run towards me and I feel myself panic. Everybody moves out of his way not wanting to get hit, the staff members run after him. I start to run away from him knowing I'm not that fast of a runner.

" Demi! " I hear his angered voice scream behind me, before I can even process it. I'm tackled to the ground, he's on top of me. He throws one punch at my face before he's thrown off me by one of the male staff members. I feel my eye sting immediately with pain.

I look over at Sterling and see some of the stronger staff members holding him back, he's looking at me with a murderous look. Kate comes over to me and kneels next to me.

" Demi, are you okay? " She asks frantically, I blink a few times feeling my left eye throb. I can't believe he actually tackled me and hit me.

" Come help me get her up." Kate says to one of the staff members that isn't holding the wild animal back. Kate and the staff member help me up and set me in a chair in the lounge, I feel my head become dizzy.

" Get Sterling away from here, make sure he doesn't escape! " Kate yells at the men holding Sterling back. Someone brings a small bag full of ice to Kate who then gives it to me, I place it over my throbbing eye. I really can't believe that just happened, I wonder what Joe would think about all of this.
