Joe's POV
Today has been a long day, with graduating and all. The graduation seemed to take forever and it just exhausted me. At least tonight I can just relax with the graduation party my mom had set up for tonight, it's not a huge deal since its only gonna be my family, some closer friends, and some family flying in from New Jersey and New York. It's gonna be fun, well I hope.
I'm still pretty sad that Demi won't be here. I'm missing her like crazy and it's driving me insane. She hasn't called me yet today which is a little weird for her, usually she would have called about an hour ago. I just hope everything is alright, I can't help but worry everyday about her.
I walk into the kitchen and see that my mom and aunt are making dinner with Danielle. My mother smiles at me before going back to work with the cooking. I pick up the phone and lean against the counter while dialing Kate's number. I just want to make sure everything is okay.
After a few rings, Kate picks up and says " Hello. "
" Hey Kate, this is Joe. Is Demi there?" I ask unable to wait to talk to her, I just need to hear her voice right now.
" Oh hey Joe...well um, Demi isn't available right now. She's getting some work done. " Kate says making my smile drop, work done?
" Oh okay, can you tell Demi to call me when she can talk? " I ask hoping Demi will be able to talk soon.
" Yeah of course. " Kate replies making me somewhat happier, I'm sad though that Demi can't talk right now.
" Thanks Kate, bye. " I say hanging up the phone and sighing.
" Everything alright Joe? " my mother asks me looking over at me with worried eyes.
" Yeah, Demi is just busy right now so she can't talk. " I say wishing she wasn't busy, I was looking forward to hearing her voice today.
" Well, hopefully she can talk later. " My mother says trying to cheer me up with a sympathetic smile, I think she's the only one who actually knows how much I love Demi.
I walk upstairs to my bedroom knowing people will be here in a half an hour to an hour, I go to my computer and open my last window that I left on the tab. I smile when I see that it's Demi's YouTube link to her video. I click play and lean back and watch, at least I can see and hear her voice here. I smile every time she does in the video, everyday I watch this video a few times.
An hour later, I go downstairs and greet family and friends. We all sit down and start to eat when the food's ready, it feels pretty good to see some of these people that I haven't seen in a while. It's funny to hear old memories that some of my family members tell me about when I was little, some of them I've never heard so there's quite a few laughs.
After dinner is done, everybody seems to go into groups and starts talking. My mother tells me she has to go grab dessert from the store which is weird since I thought that was already taken care of. I offered to go with her, but she declines and says to stay with the party.
After an other hour gone by of the party, I start to worry since she hasn't returned yet. I ask dad what's up and he just says everything's okay. I start to think this all a little to weird so I decide to call my mom's cell but she doesn't pick up. I give up and sneak away from the party not really wanting to socialize anymore, for some weird reason, my mind is just a bit off.
I go outside to the drive way and start shooting some hoops, hopefully everyone inside doesn't notice that I left since I don't want to go back in. After about twenty minutes of shooting hoops, I sit down against the wall and look at the sky. It's not dark yet, but it's gonna get there soon.
