Chapter 9

Lexi pov

I wake up on Calum's chest. He was asleep holding me tightly in his arms. I look around and notice we're I'm his room. I look and see a simple picture of us on his nightstand. I smile at it. We were so young. I was about to wake him up to go to the castle but then I remembered what happened yesterday. Oh my god. I bury my face deep into Calum's chest waking him up slightly.

"Hmm? Oh shit we- nevermind." He says and looks down at me. We hear the door open and look up to see his parents, smiling like crazy.

"You guys are getting married!" His mother gushes. I look at Calum quickly as his mom hugs me.

"I've always liked you." She said and I blush. His father nods his head and I smile.

"We took the liberty to tell your folks you might wanna check up on them." Calum's mom says and I sit up yawning.

"Yes ma'am." I say and smile.

Calum sits up too our legs somehow tangled together and I chuckle. He rubs my arms as I yawn again and we hear someone clear out their throat. We look at his parents and I blush. Why is this happening. Who told? Vic! I stand up and pull Calum with me.

"We should go talk to my folks hmm?" I ask him and he nods.

"See you guys later." He says and we walk out the door.

We walk to my mom's house and look at each other. People smiled at us as we walked through the streets. Who told everyone? He grabs my hand and I blush. We make it to my mom's house and I open the door.

"Mom? Luke? Ash?" I call out.

"In the kitchen!" Someone yells and we walk in there.

"Why didn't you tell me?!" That was the first question I was asked. I look up and see Luke. He glares at Calum and I walk in front of him.

"Luke it's not like that. " I say.

"Really?! How long have you been dating?! How long?"

"Almost 5 years." Calum says and I close my eyes.

"5 years? You mean since you were 14?!" He yells and I nod. Calum grabs my hand.

"No don't touch her!"

"Luke!" I say but he cuts me off.

"I swear this better be a joke or I-"

"Enough Luke!" My brother Ashton yells and slams his fists against the table.

I look at him shocked. He's never stood up to Luke. I hear the pitter patter of little footsteps run downstairs. Mikey. I let him run into my arms and I hold him close. Luke huffs and sits back down. I look at Calum. We have to fix this. Yeah I love Calum but not as much as I like Vic right? I walk upstairs with Mikey and Calum follows me. My mother hasn't spoken a word to me. She's probably upset that I didn't tell her but in all honesty I didn't tell myself. I sit there holding Mikey and grab Calum's hand. He lifts my hand up and kisses it.

"What are we gonna do?" I ask softly.

"I don't know but we need to figure it out."

Calum pov

The next couple of days me and Lexi talked about what we were gonna do. Her old best friend Lynn came by and congratulated us. They chatted for a while and I sat there talking to Ashton. Turns out he took a liking into me that's why he stood up to Luke. Then we were needed back at the castle. Or well Lexi was. Maria didn't want to see me. So I'm just walking Lexi to the castle with Ashton and then walking back with Ashton. I didn't want to be it's a long walk.

That leads to where we are now. We make it to the castle and she lets go of my hand. I look at the ring I gave her. We decided when we're around people we'll fake it until we figure out what we're doing. So she had to at least look like she's engaged. I smile as she kisses my cheek and I hug her. She turns and see Vic. He give me a stone cold glare and I look at Lexi.

"See you later love." I say and she smiles.

I see Vic looking at Lexi coldly as she walks towards him and she fiddles with her ring. He starts talking to her and they walk inside the castle. I look over at Ashton.

"You guys are gross." He mumbles and I chuckle.

"You'll see one day bud. You will." I say and ruffle his hair.

We walked back to his house and little Mikey came running up towards me and latched onto my legs. I pick him up and carry him with us.

"What are you guys gonna do for the wedding?" Ashton ask.

"I don't know we've been talking about it." I smile.

"Please be good to my sister." He says and I nod.

"I will. She's my best friend I love her." I say and he smiles walking out of her room with Mikey.

It wasn't a lie. She is my best friend and I do love her. She's beautiful yeah but I hurt Maria. I've hurt Vic. It wasn't even my fault. They could've killed my mom and dad. I panicked. I can't lose them. They're the only family thing I got. I look at the a picture of us. I was so simple back then but now is now. Now I just have to go with this. I mean Maria couldn't marry me anyway. I'm a peasant boy. She's a royal. I sigh and close my eyes. I just need some rest.
