Chapter Fourteen
———Ylva
I kept running, my paws thudding along the muddy ground, dirt splashing up against my clean fur. It didn't take long for me to recognise the strong pounding of Ryker following behind, quickly gaining on me.
I quickly shot my head around to see an Alpha on my tail. Was he angry? I really couldn't tell but I didn't want to stop to find out. I've heard being rejected is one of the worst pains you could possibly imagine and I don't think I'm ready for that yet. I pushed myself faster, with the help of Misty and Lucine.
'Why are you helping?' I gasped for air, racing forward.
'Because we are just as scared as you.' Lucine replied sharply.
'I don't know how he'll react. I'm afraid he'll reject us!' Misty whimpered.
Continuing forwards, the trees were just a blur past me and the other pack members looked at me confused and worried.
It had already been a while since I started running, the ache in my feet hurt but I continued, not wanting to hear what Ryker had to say. I was either fast enough as a hybrid to outrun an Alpha, or he was toying with me, waiting until I was tired before he pounced.
'Ylva, please stop!' He growled through my mind.
'No! I don't want to get hurt!' I whimpered speeding on.
'I'm not going to hurt you, Ylva.' he whispered back.
I quickly came to a halt at the boarder line. How fast was I running? It usually took ages to reach here, and now in under half an hour, there I was. I wasn't crossing it. I didn't want to. I didn't want to be a rouge again, get hurt again, or get attacked again.
I froze when sharp teeth picked me up by my scruff. I whimpered slightly, wriggling to get free, 'Please don't make me sleep again. It hurts.' I whimpered, frightfully.
Ryker paused and set me down, 'Do I scare you?' He titled his head.
I shook my head but my body was against me and shivered in fear.
'Please don't be afraid of me. I would never hurt you.' his calm voice echoed through, slowly walking closer.
My figure was still hunched, on the verge of submitting, my tail between my legs. I still wouldn't submit though, no matter what.
'I thought you would reject me.' I whispered.
He came to a halt and looked at me as sternly as possible in wolf form.
'Lycus or not, I don't care. You are mine and no one else's. I don't care if you are different. All I care is that you don't belong to anyone but me. You are mine!' His voice was full of love, trust and promise.
'Really?' I asked, a bit to hopefully.
'Really!' He nudged his head against my fur, sparks flying from the contact. Misty purred in satisfaction, 'Come on. Let's get back' he nudged my butt for me to move.
'Hey, hands off the butt!' I stood up and walked towards the back home.
'I'll touch what I want, mate.'
'Okay, that was Raiden.' Misty purred happily, Lucine not far behind. I felt myself suddenly being lifted up again at the scruff.
'No... put me down, you big bully!' I whined, scratching lightly against his chest. He growled lowly.
'No. It makes me feel better when I know you are with me and are safe.' He whispered, his hot breath fanning against my head.
'I'm walking right beside you!' I let my body go limp, knowing he wouldn't put me down even if I begged.
'At least set me down when we get nearer the pack house?' I asked.
'Fine.' and he took off running.
After a few minutes, the pack house came in sight and he set me down. He licked my snout and pushed me forward again, by my butt, leaving me to send him a warning glance. Some of the pack were still out here. A few women and children were having a picnic, them all laughing and having a great time. Some boys were having pretend battles with each other in wolf form, I smiled at their cute little growls.
A small girl came running up to me. She had two tiny plaits and bright brown eyes. She wore a blue flowery dress and she smiled up at me, "Hello, Luna. Please may I put this flower in your fur?" She asked polietly. Her voice was soft and gentle.
I twitched slightly at the Luna part but reluctantly nodded my head and laid on the ground. I felt her tiny little hands run through my wolf fur before a small flower was place just above my ear, "You have very pretty fur" she admired my blue and white streaked fur as she reached out to touch my chest. Her hands felt relaxing and calming.
I gently licked her nose as her mum called her. "Goodbye, Luna. I hope to see you soon!" she waved and run away. I looked to Ryker, who almost looked proud.
'She is so adorable! Who is she?' I asked, watching her play with her brother, I think.
'Shes my cousin's daughter, her name is Nora. The boy next to her is Nora's twin brother, Lee.' Ralph watched with me as the pack had fun in the sun.
"That flower suits you eyes, you know." Ryker smiled as we shifted , gripping my waist and pulling me into him. I blush slightly, resting my hands on his chest, as sparks flied.
"Thanks. But I don't really like compliments." I told him as we walked back to my family.
"Well, get used to it because your going to be getting alot from me!" He smirked, kissing my head.
We came to the living room. Nathaniel and the Beta, Reece, seemed to be having a great time talking because they were laughing like crazy. I smiled at that. Faith and Gracie seemed to get along well, Sunbrooke was laughing at them. Aden looked lost, deep in thought. And that was strange for my older cousin.
"Aden, are you okay?" I asked, walking over to him, ruffling up his neat hair.
"I, uh... yeah, yeah." he said, but there was still a distant loom in his eyes. Okay, something was definitely wrong - he never lets me mess up his hair.
I sat on the couch opposite him and Ryker sat beside me, pulling me closer to him, "I think Maisy should come down. She seems left out a lot." I sighed. She was always in her room.
"Why'd you think of her?" Ralph asked, slightly growling.
"She's my Amista." I told him.
His eyes suddenly softened in realisation, "Oh - she's my sister." he spoke proudly. I smiled at how loving he really was.
'Maisy, come down and meet my auntie, uncle and cousins.' I said through the link.
'Nah, I don't think I should... I mean - I'm not good with people and interactions so... uh, yeah.' she answered.
'No, come please! Please, Amista!' I pout, even though she couldn't see me.
'Okay, I'm coming.'
I heard footsteps along the stairs and then Maisy's scent appeared around me. Looking over, I saw her with wide eyes and fear across her face. But she wasn't looking at me. I followed her eyeline and saw them lead directly to Aden. He shot up and stood there, staring at her in admiration.
Wait a second...
I couldn't think before Aden used his wolf speed to get over to her. She was pinned up against the wall as she stared into the eyes of my cousin. Then Aden roared one word I never thought I'd hear so passionately from him, "MINE!"
