alright, this is approximately the eleventh time I am attempting to write this. LET'S DO IT!!!November 29, 2016. 23:06
Nightvale
~~Willow~~The mattress sank under my weight as I began to memorize the cracks on the ceiling. Again.
I punched a pillow, replaying the visit from Emma less than half a day ago.
My hand flew to my head for support. I had managed to keep them out for hours, but now I couldn't hold them back.
My vision blurred, and all I could see was a big purple haze from the curtains. Wind rushed past my ears, and when I blinked, Scarlett and Pyro were the only bits of colors that I could see for a wide expanse of darkness.
Satisfaction gleamed in Pyro's eyes, as she crossed her arms over her chest confidently. "We tried to tell you!" She said, a hint of triumph in her voice.
"Shut up." I warned her, shooting a fireball at her shoulder. It missed by a foot, at least. Dinah would skin me alive for being out of practice. My heart sank as I thought of Dinah, and tears caught in my throat. Emma had more than hinted that Dinah and Oliver's relationship was strained ever since I left. A bit like Roy and Chesh- Jade, when he was obsessed with finding Speedy. But what had become of Olivia?
I told myself not to worry about my baby sister. Emma and the others were sure to look out for her, and she had plenty of friends on the team. I almost smiled when I thought of Blur and Arsenal.
Maybe I did need to go back.
"You owe Connor and his family an apology." Scarlett said solemnly.
"Yeah, like they're going to want to talk to a fire monster who ran away from home and threw her family into chaos and has been hiding out in their house. What kind of person does that?"
"You do, apparently." Pyro dismissed, playing with a throwing knife between her fingers.
Scarlett sighed. It seemed that the two were back to their normal relationship again.
"You could at least...try." She said quietly. She knelt on the ground next to me, cuddled up in a ball hugging my legs to my chest.
"I "tried" to have a normal life, and look where that got me."
"You'll never be normal." Pyro shrugged, now juggling balls of fire.
My eyes narrowed into slits, and my hands began to heat up. "Shut up!" I cried out again, blasting her back with fire.
"Ember, stop!" Scarlett said. I did. Was it coincidence that Connor's nickname for me was the one that Scarlett and Pyro had dubbed me with? I doubted it.
Scarlett gripped my arm, and I could feel the fear radiating off her in waves. She didn't want us to fight and send fire flying everywhere.
I relaxed, letting my hands grow cold again. Pyro rubbed her arm as if I actually had hit her, just to rub it in with me, but she didn't retaliate. Nightvale had been good for her.
There was a tapping sound, almost like it was hitting the back of my head.
"Ember? ....Ember?"
I looked up at Scarlett, but I knew it wasn't her voice. her face began to blur like a wet painting, and Pyro was blown away like dust. I blinked again and I was back in my room.
The tapping came again, on my door.
"Scarlett...Willow. Please. Talk to me."
Slowly, I forced myself to sit up, stand up, and walk over to the door, where my hand sat on the handle for a minute, contemplating my decision for a minute before finally opening the door.
