"Hey, Adeline." Calum smiles at me while entering through the door. This has just become a thing with him, just popping by here and there.

"Well hello there, Cal." I return the smile.

"Whoa now." Calum holds out his hands as if to stop my words. "You wouldn't want Luke to hear you talking in such fowl language."

I tilt my head to the side and give him a serious look. "Watch it. Luke was just being protective of me. He gets jealous easily, it's not his fault." I defend him. Which in this case, it kind of is his fault for getting jealous so easily. If he wouldn't have been the way he was before, than maybe he wouldn't always be in fear of me leaving him.

"Well he needs to get over himself. He knows I would never do something like that to him."

"Has he talked to you since?"

Calum shakes his head. "No?" I question as if the answer wasn't already obvious.

"Nuh uh." He shakes his head once again.

"Why not?" I ask, folding my arms against my chest.

Calum shrugs. "I guess we're not done being mad at each other."

"That's-" I get interrupted by the phone ringing in the back. "I'll be back." I say, and go grab the phone.

"This is Pizza Palace, how may I help you?" I ask in that stupid cheery tone.

"Can I have a pizza, Addy?" Michael's voice chimes through the receiver.

"Michael?" The tone in my voice drops as I come to realization that it doesn't really matter anymore; it's Michael. "Sure what'd you want?"

"Eh surprise me. I'll be here to pick it up in 10."

"Wait, your back?"

"Yes, silly." Michael giggles. "See you in ten minutes."

I laugh and hang up the phone, walking in the kitchen to find literally every topping that I can find to put on his pizza. I mean hey, he said surprise him. "Michael will be here shortly." I inform Calum whilst he sits on his phone, torn temporarily from the world.

"Yeah? How do you know?" He tests.

"'Cause that was just him on the phone." I say in my know it all voice.

"Did that loser even order anything?" Cal snickers.

"Yes actually. He said to surprise him, so I honestly just through something together." I laugh, and just about that time, Mikey walks through making the bell chime.

"Mikey!" I erupt in excitement, running from my place behind the counter to attack him with hugs before Calum gets there.

"Addy! Cal-pal!" Mike yells back with mock surprisement, making all the other customers look back with judgment by their server acting so immature.

"Don't call me that." Calum whines, plopping back down on the counter.

We laugh for a minute and catch our breaths, and I almost forget that Michael's pizza was still in the oven. I gasp and run back to the kitchen and grab it out, right on time in the process, burning my palm. "Fuck!" I mutter, running it under ice water and putting my mouth on it for extra measures.

"Here's your damn pizza." I groan whilst passing it to Michael.

"What crawled up you ass?" He wonders, not even caring to look before he put the food in his mouth.

"I fucking burned my hand." I swear at the pain.

"Calm down, Ad." Calum says, glancing around. "Take a break so you don't get yourself fired."

I nod in agreement, and exit the pizza parlor with my friends. We lean up against the wall as Calum takes my hand to examine my whelk. "Ouch Cal." I jerk my hand away.

"Sorry, sorry. Just put some Ice on it later, yeah?"

"Look at that white cloud of smoke. It's like I can almost touch it." Michael says in amazement while he starts blowing on it. I swear he has the attention span of a 2-year old.

But then I start coughing as the wind picks up and the smoke is blown right into my lungs. As I'm trying to catch my breath from coughing, I walk in the direction of the smoke. "Hey don't you know that this is a no smoking zone? Cant you rea-Ashton?"

The shaggy haired boy looks at me with shock, as he lowers the hood on his jumper to reveal his face. "You caught me." He shyly smiles.

"Ash why are you smoking?" I ask with concern in my voice.

"It's uh it's a good stress releaser." He chuckles.

"It's not funny. You know I knew that you were up to something. I knew you smelled like smoke the last time we hung out, but I just wanted to believe that you were better than this, and you are. What's the real reason you've been smoking?"

Ashton's face turns hard as he says, "You don't know what I'm going through right now, so I won't answer to someone I hardly know. Most certainly a loser like you." He spats, and with that he's gone.

"Okay then." I whisper more to myself than anyone else.

"He doesn't mean it. He tends to say things he knows will hurt when he's hurting himself." Michael pats my back.

"But what is her hurting from?"

~Xx~

I go back to my normal routine after work and meet Luke in our field. "My baby." Luke whispers and hugs me hard, digging his face into my neck.

"You okay?" I ask him, hugging back just as hard.

"Are you?"

"No."

"I'm not either." He sighs and lets go of me. He sits on the bench and runs he fingers through his hair. "You want to talk about it?"

"We caught Ashton smoking behind the pizza parlor today." I sigh in the same tone as him, sitting down right next to him.

Luke scoffs almost like he knew something about it. "Did you know?"

"I knew that he's smoked before. I though he stopped though." He shrugs. "Is that's what's got you so upset?"

"No. He went off of me and called me a loser. The guys told me that when he's hurting that he says things to make people hurt too, so I'm trying to not let it get to me much."

"The guys were with you?"

"Yes, Mike and Cal-um." I stumble over my words because I know that he doesn't like the nickname for Calum. Let's see what he says about Michael.

"Oh. Well what they said was true. Just give him time. He'll come around."

I nod. "You want to talk about your problem?"

"No. No I really don't want to. Honestly I'm afraid you might hate me."

"I could never hate you. But if you don't want to talk about it, I won't make you."

We both sigh in unison. "You can come stay with me tonight." Luke ponders with his words.

"What?"

"My brother won't care. And your parents can just get over it." He smirks.

"Fine." I stand up and hold out my hand for his. "I need to take a shower anyways. And this time you can join me."

"I like the sound of that." His voice get really deep, and I can't tell if it was on purpose, but it turned me on even more.
