The avengers sat with Alex in her cell, listening to her tale of the date, they were shocked. Alex had stopped crying now but she had her head bowed and still sniffled. Tony figured that every girl could be a wreck when humiliated.
" It's all over YouTube, Tony, can you find a way to delete the video please? I don't want anyone to see me," Alex asked hopefully.
" I'll do that right away," Tony answered soothingly.
" He's a jerk if he doesn't want you," Natasha declared boldly.
" If he's such a jerk then why do I still love him?" Alex asked miserably.
" Because you're a good person Alex, some day you'll find an even better boy to love than Peter," Hawkeye noted from his seat in the corner.
Alex smiled weakly at all the avengers.
" Thanks, you've all been great," Alex thanked warmly.
She had grown to really like all of these perfect friends, regardless of the past history between them. Even Nick Fury was starting to warm to her but he was strict on keeping her safely hidden away in the cells.
" You deserve friends Alex," Bruce acknowledged with a nod.
Suddenly, as Alex was about to add something else she stopped. She clutched her ears and let out a wail.
" What is it kid? Are you okay?" Natasha asked.
Alex was on her knees, holding her ears closed and screeching a horrible sound.
Steve bent down at held her shoulders, making her look at him. He saw that her eyes were wide and were changing colours, yellow, red, blue, green, brown. She was giving him a pleading look.
" What's wrong with you?" He asked sternly.
" N, N, noise," she managed to make out through gritted teeth.
Steve could hear a high pitched humming sound and turned to face its direction. Then he saw the microphone outside the cell was been tapped by one of the shield agents, making it squeal loudly. Steve threw his shield and it cleaved the microphone in half, stopping the sound. Slowly Alex stopped and released her ears. She panted slowly.
" Why did you react like that?" Banner asked in surprise.
" I can hear high pitched sounds much louder than normal humans can and it hurts my head badly," Alex moaned.
Banner nodded.
" Kind of like dog whistles huh?" He asked.
Alex stiffened.
" Kind of like that," she replied warily.
" Well, I suppose that's settled then," Thor said slowly." What does the moon look like tonight?" Alex asked wistfully as Tony came inside her cell.
" It looks beautiful, Completely full and shining bright considering that it is nine o'clock," Tony described,
Alex stopped still and stared at him with her yellow eyes.
" You have to leave quick, tell no one to come in here until morning," Alex ordered in a panicked voice.
" Why? I won't leave till you tell me," Tony inquired.
" I have issues with my powers, I was born on a full moon you know," Alex answered.
" I don't want to leave you alone with this, what if you get hurt?" Tony asked.
" That's the thing, I don't know what happens. That's why I don't want anyone near me," Alex explained worriedly.
" All the more reason for me to stay, I can tell you what happens and you'll be at peace of mind," Tony reasoned.
Alex rolled her eyes and sighed, why had she even confided in a man who was so, so right!
" If you are staying you must be completely suited up and be outside my cell, Banner must also be with you in case you are injured and are in need of medical protection," Alex ordered.
" I'll get right on to it, you better be prepared kid, it's almost time," Tony told her anxiously.Tony and Banner sat together, watching Alex sleeping peacefully in her cell. She looked so peaceful that it was hard to think she was so dangerous.
" I can't see anything happening yet," Tony murmured.
" Just look, the moonlight is filtering in and it hasn't reached her yet. She mentioned the moonlight and I think that it might be crucial, look, it's about to reach her," Banner suggested.
The men waited and then suddenly the moonlight touched her. Alex fidgeted in her sleep and muttered softly as the light reached her feet. When the light spilled over her even more she started to thrash. She let out a tortured cry. Tony stood to intervene but Banner held him back. He watched as the light reached her face and she stopped still, laying so still she appeared to be sleeping again. Then her eyes snapped open. There was more yellow than ever before in those eyes, her pupils were smaller than normal. Then she stood up. Tony thought she was going to talk to them but she didn't. She looked inhuman in the moonlight, silver moonlight looked beautiful on her face usually but now she looked terrifying. She paced around the cell, holding her face in her hands.
What was happening here? Tony asked himself in confusion.
Alex suddenly screamed, it was loud, a high pitched sound. He scream was gut wrenching. Tony and Banner actually stepped back further out of sight.
" No!" She yelled.
Then it happened.
Alex had been standing there as a young girl but then now she was standing there as something else. A huge, pitch black, she wolf. The she wolf eyed them with large eyes and let out a deep rumbling sound, wolffish laughter. The she wolf had huge muscles and large gleaming teeth, a killing machine. As soon as she had changed form she changed back to human, but not her normal self. She was wearing the same clothes and was the same age but a blue aura of energy crackled around her and Tony could feel himself become more powerful, Banner also. Then she changed back to normal and the feeling subsided. Alex swayed on her feet, blood oozed down her leg through the bandage and she promptly smiled at them Woozily.
" How did it go?" Alex asked in a lightheaded voice.
Tony opened the cell and dashed to her as she promptly fainted.
