I had lunch with neither Sierra nor Sally. So i was left with Taylor and Jake. We sat at the far end of the cafeteria and in the middle was where a lot of popular kids sat. From my seat i could see Jayson being so loud with Rayshawn and some other boys. Some of them were flirting with girls, making out, like gross. Why would you do that during lunch, it made me want to puke. Jake and Taylor noticed my facial expression.

"you're gonna have to get used to it girl" Jake said smiling at me. "And you wouldn't like what will happen if they see your expression like that"
I just carried on with my food, observing the rest of the cafeteria and trying to ask them about Jayson. The way they warned me about him in biology class got me thinking.
Right beside Jayson and he's friends i could see Ayanna and her friends. They seemed so close with Jayson and Rayshawn and the other boys. Ayanna was on Jayson's lap, so clearly he was a flirt or they had something going on. I looked at Taylor and opened my mouth to ask a question when she cut me short.
"About Jayson right?" I nodded affirmatively. "Whatever we tell you now cannot be shared by anybody, i mean the school already knows half of the story but we only know the true secret because we use to be friends with Jayson"  Jake said looking at me so intensely. I was anxious to know what it was about this Jayson of a guy.

"He is supposed to be in 10th grade. He is a repeater just like us that's why you see he's so popular" Taylor said.
"But you guys are also repeaters but you are not as popular as jayson is"  I said quite confused.

Ok, this is it. We have been friends with Jayson since middle school. He got here and got mixed up with the wrong people. At first we thought it was just peer pressure but it was more than that. He was smart, we weren't that smart. All of a sudden things changed. He got in fights like everyday, became a bully. One time we tried to talk to him he made us get beat up by his "friends" claiming he didn't know us. We were worried because of the sudden change. He's grades were falling so fast. We could tell that he was in pain. Look at his eyes for just a minute and you will find a lot of pain in there. I feel like the only way he could express himself was by pouring it out on people. He bullied in different techniques that even when the school gets reports there was never enough evidence against him. The school year was coming to an end and it was quite clear that he was repeating. We were still curious about Jayson, why he was changing so fast. On the last day of school for the school year, we traced him to his house. He was very discreet about where he lived. So we tried to trail him, but he found us out and had us ridiculed by his friends in a humiliating way that I don't even want to remember. He warned us never to act like we know if not we won't see another school year. At that point we gave up. Unfortunately we also repeated but one thing i know is that Jayson wasn't always like this. I can't just place what went wrong in his life.

That story had me thinking. I kept on wondering why he changed suddenly.

"And mind you, u wouldn't want to come across him or dare him if not u are probably going to die without anybody knowing"
Taylor said, and Jake chuckled a bit.
The story still didn't sound right to me. I felt like they left somethings out. Then I remembered how they both told me not to share the story with anybody and it was quite confusing because the story didn't sound secretive. Except they left that part out.

"But you guys asked me not to share the story with anybody" they both nodded affirmatively. "But the story doesn't have a confidential part, it sounds like what everybody already knows apart from how he treated you guys."
Oh yeah about that, jake said looking suspicious and uncertain, trying to get a code from Taylor. Like a "go ahead" code. And that point the bell rang. Dang it! What a perfect timing. They both looked relieved like they had been saved by the bell.
I was very determined to unlock the other part of the puzzle with or without their help.
As i walked out of the cafeteria i looked at Jayson, trying to look in his eyes to find the pain they talked about because he looked absolutely pain free. He dressed fashionable, not very expensive stuffs but he looked neat and okay. He was chatting away while the girls clinched on him. Rayshawn was behind him with girls but looking more calm. Rayshawn was "CALM". That's strange. I was still assessing them all when Jayson caught my eyes. I immediately turned my face away and ran to my next period.
