Chapter 23

      I was uncomfortable at first but then i got used to the feel of his hands around my waist. I didn't want it to end. He smelled like my dad. Just before i could live in the moment, he whispered into my ears I'm sorry! I keep yelling at you. I know I'm not your boyfriend and I don't want to be but I'm just looking out for you. Sorry for overreacting. And then he walked away. He kind of hurt me when he said he didn't want to be my boyfriend. I mean I didn't want him to be either but he made it sound like I wasn't worthy of any boy. But whatever!

Yeah it's fine. I said turning around facing him.

Gotta head back to work now see you later.

Yeah bye!

That was extremely awkward. I just hope we don't ruin our friendship because of our pettiness. I sat back on the couch to browse through the channels when the doorbell rang again. Did he forget something?

Who's there? I yelled as i looked at the security camera. There was no face there but the doorbell was ringing. I opened the door only to find Rayshawn there with a bouquet of flowers and a box of granola bars. Weird right but just the sight of those granola bars made me forget what he did to me. Granola bars are like my secret crush. I love them more than i love pizza but nobody knows because they are my secret crush. Like that one boy you like in school but you can't tell him because he doesn't seem to be interested in you so you just love them secretly. And plus who freaking gets obsessed with granola bars. I mean they are just granola bars. People like them but it never gets to an obsession so i think I'm kind of weird. That's my life right now tho.

He brought me back into the present when he walked into my house without being invited.

What are you doing here?

You refused to pick my calls or respond to my text so i just decided to come myself.

Soo?

Shontaeya I'm sorry! I was drunk. I wasn't thinking. Moreover I didn't know it was you. I would never want to make you uncomfortable. I'm so sorry. Please!

I looked at him and felt a little guilty. I knew he kept on calling "Tasha" so he probably wasn't thinking but then I decide to shut him down all this while.

     It's fine Ray. But it only means I can't feel safe being alone with you when you're drunk.

   I'm never gonna get drunk again then. You mean a lot to me. I'm sorry about the kiss. I mean I wouldn't want to kiss you like that.

       Crap the kiss. I was trying to forget that and see if i could revirginize my lips. If there's any word like that. But here he is reminding me again.

    I forgive you. Just one more question. I said this time with a serious expression that kind of startled him.

    What?

    How did you know i had a secret crush on granola bars? I asked looking down at the box and raising my brows.

    O..ohh th..that! He stuttered as he scratched the back of his neck. Uhm i guess when you care about someone you go through extreme measures to please the person.

       Oh please, there's only 2 people that know about my granola bars secret. Maybe 3 plus Sierra's mom because she use to buy a lot for me when i was little.

       Wait a minute. Sierra told you didn't she? I mean it can't be Sally because Sally doesn't have a big mouth like Si-Si.

    Yes it was Sierra but please i promised her that you wouldn't find out.

      I see. You wanna watch a movie?

  Yeah sure.

    I grabbed the pop corn from the kitchen cabinet and gave him while taking my flowers and bars. To be honest i paid no attention to the flowers. It was gonna wither anyways.

      As he approached the couch he saw the remaining pizza i and Jayson had not touched. His facial expression changed immediately.

    Looks like you had company huh?

    Yeah Jayson was here earlier on. And I'm sorry about what he did to you that day. He misread the situation.

   No he didn't. But it's fine. That's left for me and Jayson to handle.

    He picked a movie and we watched together. I liked it but I didn't know when i slept off. I woke up later that night to find myself on his lap. For a second I didn't know what was going on until i saw the tv and i was wrapped in a blanky.

     I tried to move but his hand was on my back. It seemed like he was asleep too so I gently removed his hand and got up. He was asleep. I turned off the tv. Well i guess he might sleep on the couch this night. I took off his shoes and his wrist watch. Covered him with the blanky. He was so cute. Slept so peacefully. More peaceful than i did because i think i snore when i sleep. I mean Sierra tells me all the time.

       Good thing the cleaner had gone home because I didn't want my parents to know of this. Speaking of my parents what if my mom comes home this night.  I gasped at the thought i shook it off.

      It was pass midnight and i heard the doorbell ring just as i was about to go upstairs.

     Could that be my mom?
I checked the camera and it was Jayson. Oh my goodness what was he doing here. At this time.

    I opened the door narrowly and talked to him. Jayson it's past midnight, what do you want? I asked peeping my head through the door.

     It was raining heavily and he was drenched from head to toe.

    Can i come in for a second. His voice sounded hoarse and cracked. I looked back to Rayshawn who was sleeping on the couch.

       Uhmm I can't let you come in. I'm sorry.

   Are your parents home? I can sneak into your room. Please i need you right know. Now his voice was filled with pain.
Crap! What was i gonna do. It's not like i was hiding something but they weren't the best of friends right now and Jayson running into him in my house might just escalate things.

     Jayson uh..mm i.. Uhm. I can't!

   And just then Rayshawn woke up and yelled.
Are you okay there Taeya?

    Before i could blink Jayson forcefully entered the house and saw Rayshawn on the couch.

     Damn it!
