Double The Fun {George's Side} [book 1]

Chapter 29

After a very fun dance practise, I walk towards the astronomy tower to read, deciding to skip dinner since I'm not really hungry, while Alex went off to our room, saying she was too tired to eat.

After I had finished my book I decided to go get Alex, so I walked into our room to see her sprawled out on her stomach on the bed.
"Hey Alex let's go take Tails for a walk." I say grabbing her ankles and dragging her off the bed.
"Fine but release my ankles." I released her ankles and She grabbed Tails' leash and walked out the door with me and Tails at her heels.
We walked down that marble staircases and past a few empty classes on our way outside.
As we passed one class I could hear 4 familiar voices coming from inside.
"Hold up a sec." Alex whispers to me and holds me back.
"What is it?" I whisper back.
"Fred and George are in there."
We both take a peek inside and see them talking with Angelina and Katie.
"Why did you two want to see us in an empty class?" Fred asks leaning on a desk.
"Well we uh just wanted to ask you something." Angelina said hesitantly.
"And what would that be?" George asks raising a brow.
Katie pulled George to one side of the room and Angelina pulled Fred to another.
But what they said, they said at the same time while blushing.
"Would you go to the ball with me?"
The twins stood there and a smile formed on their faces.
It was as if someone had ripped my heart out.
I stood their frozen.
I could feel the tears welling up, but I refused to let them fall.
"Let's get going." Alex choked out and pulled me away.
We gave up on the walk and went back to the dorm.
The walk back was quiet.
I bet he said yes... and I guess that means he never liked me, it must have just been a fluke....... Why didn't I see it?! She obviously liked him, it was only natural he would like her back and not me!!
I let a few tears run down my face as I looked down at the floor, a curtain of my hair hiding my face.
"You okay Alice?" Alex asked in a hushed voice.
"Uh huh." I whispered back, but then it came like a waterfall, tears streaming down my face and silent sobs escaping my lips as we walked the whole way to our room.

As soon as we got to the room I walked over to my bed and closed the curtains, mumbling a silencing charm. I pulled my knees to my chest and began to fully cry, letting out sob after sob, knowing I wouldn't be heard.
I lay down slightly and began to sob into my pillow.
Why couldn't it be me?!

I woke up a right mess, my hair clung to my tear stained face and was sticking out in all directions, my eyes were puffy and red from all the crying, and the worst part was it was still my birthday.
Worst birthday ever, and that's saying a lot.....
