After the first years were sorted the great hall erupted with chatter as older students conversed with the first years, and the other students began to catch up with each other.
In a moments time Dumbledore had made his way to the podium and began working on silencing the crowd.
"SILENCE!!!!" Dumbledore shouted.
The crowd quieted.
"Wonder what he's gonna say." I whisper in Alex's ear.
"Beats me." She whispers back.
"I'd like to make an announcement. This castle will not only be your home this year, but also the home of some guests as well." Dumbledore begins his speech, looking around at each house table. "You see Hogwarts, has been chosen."
Dumbledore stops as Filtch comes running in to speak with him.
After speaking with him Dumbledore begins again, Filtch running back out.
"So Hogwarts has been chosen to host a legendary event. The Twi-Wizard Tournament!" He says exuberantly.
"The Tri-Wizard Tournament brings together three schools for a series of magical contests. For each school a single student is elected to compete. Now let me be clear if chosen you stand alone." He says solemnly. "Now trust me when I say these contests are not for the faint of heart, but more on that later. For now please join me in welcoming the lovely ladies of beauxbatons academy of magic and their headmistress Madame Maxey."
A group of girls wearing tacky baby blue silk dresses and matching hats, placed slanted on their heads, came dancing in, almost fainting onto the tables, letting out a sound that could easily be mistaken for a moan.
"Good thing you didn't end up going there." Alex whispers with a small laugh as she elbows me in the side.
"Could you imagine, me, in one of those ugly blue dresses." I whisper back, laughing along with her. "And I swear they've moaned more than Myrtle has since I've met her."
"And now for our friends from the north please greet the proud sons of durmstrang and their highmaster Igor Karkaroff!" Dumbledore continues, as a group of young, fairly attractive, men march into the great hall.
"Damn......." I whisper, with a small laugh. "All looks no brain, i'd guess."
"They aren't that attractive." Alex scoffs. "I've seen better."
"You mean those Weasley twins?" I ask, teasingly.
"Oh please." She waves her hand dismissively.
"I know you think they're hot, 'cause we're  just a bit too similar." I say, giving her a knowing look.
"Your attention please! I'd like to say a few words." Dumbledore calls, regaining our attention.
"Eternal glory." He speaks softly. "That is what awaits the student who wins the Tri-Wizard Tournament but to do this that student must survive three tasks. Three extremely dangerous tasks. For this reason the ministry have seen fit to impose a new rule. The explain all this we have the head of the department of international magic cooperation, Mister Bartimus Crouch."
"I hate the ministry." Alex mutters next to me. "Bloody idiots with the decisions they make."
An older man walks up to the podium as Dumbledore steps back.
"After due consideration, the ministry has concluded that for their own safety, no student under the age of seventeen." As soon as he says 'seventeen' a large amount of the great hall erupts with boos and complaints. "Should be allowed to put forth their name for the tournament." He states through the twins yelling from down the table. "That's rubbish!" They yell in unison, causing the rest of the hall to call out in outrage as well. "That's rubbish, you know it!!"
Alice and I sigh rather loudly and roll our eyes at those who are causing the ruckus.
"But the Weasley's do have a point." Alex points out, raising her eye brow in agreement.
"SILENCE!" Dumbledore shouts and everyone begins to quiet down, no longer voicing their outrage.
"The goblet of fire." He announces." Directing our attention to a large stone goblet." "Anyone wishing to submit their names in the tournament merely write their name upon a piece of parchment and throw it in the flame before this hour on Thursday night." He says, taking a step from the goblet. "But do not do so lightly, if chosen there's no turning back, as from this moment, the Tri-Wizard Tournament has begun." And with that, we all began to eat, most of the students talking excitedly about the Tri-Wizard Tournament, while Alex and I kept to a very comfortable silence.

After Alex and I had finished eating we began the long walk up to Griffindor tower.
We were almost out the door when we hear two very familiar boys coming up behind us.
I saw a mischievous grin form on Alex's face as they were about to pass between us, and she quickly put her leg out in front of them as did I.
They both fell to the ground with a small yelp.
"Bloody hell!" They exclaim.
"What was that for?" The one on the left asked, presumably Fred.
"We didn't do anything to you!" The one on the right(George) said.
"Yet." Fred added quietly, a smirk falling onto his face.
"That's for saying reading isn't fun!" I call, as we both begin to walk past them.
"Well get you back for that one." One of the twins called after us.
"We'll see about that." Alex called back cockily as we dash up the stairs and to the portrait of the fat lady slightly out of breath.
