The next few days are tense and awkward, Chogan and I avoid each other, and Honey and Ky get closer. School is boring and annoying because now Chogan’s stupid fan club is constantly glaring at me and trying to start fights. I’ve been called to the office 3 times this week just because of them. Chogan of course doesn’t care what they do. Although we have gotten farther in our lessons but those don’t seem to be going to good either. Today is especially bad.
“Ky, where is Chogan?” I ask looking at my watch because we are already running behind on our lessons.
“Well.” Ky says nervously scratching his head.
“He has a date with Tara.” Ky whispers.
I can feel the anger rising in me so quickly I start to shake, I stomp it down and take a deep breath.
“Where did they go?” I ask through gritted teeth.
“The park.” Ky says looking a little scared.
“Where are the keys to his motorcycle?” I ask already searching for them.
“Their hanging on the silver hook in the kitchen,” Ky says following me as I jog from the living room to the kitchen and snatch the keys off of the hook.
I smile sweetly at him and step into the garage, walking past five cars before getting to the cherry red cycle. I grab the silver helmet and put it on.
“I’ll be right back.” I say to Ky before peeling out of the garage.
I speed toward the park trying to contain my anger. I’m not sure if I’m angry that he missed his lesson or that he missed it because he is with Tara. I pull up to the park and find a parking space. I spot them immediately, sitting rather closely at a picnic table eating ice cream.
I take off the helmet and shake my hair out, putting the helmet under my arm. I strut over to the table and slide in across from them.
Chogan meets my gaze with slight anger and a little amusement. I smile at him fully ready to take all of the amusement out of his gaze. Tara eyes me with open hatred.
“Hi Tara! Did you know Ken is looking for you? He doesn’t look to happy.” I smile sweetly and her eyes widen confirming my suspensions that she wasn’t exactly single yet.
I turn to Chogan, “Also your dad had me come look for you after you missed your doctor’s appointment.”
Chogan glares at me suspiciously, “I didn’t have a doctors appointment.” Seeing as he wouldn’t ever need to go to the doctor it makes sense he doesn’t trust me.
I try to look like an innocent messenger. “Don’t be ashamed I’m sure plenty of people have to get tested and I’m sure the results will come back clean.”
Chogan’s face is blank for a second before he fully processes what I’ve said. All of the amusement vanishes and angry replaces it, I smile sweetly and stand up.
“Well I’ll leave you guys to your ice cream.” Taking his ice cream from his hands, I take a quick lick before returning it to him. I turn away and walk quickly back to the cycle.
He watches me go and realizes I’m riding his motorcycle; he turns a lovely shade of red and stands to stop me. At the same time Tara stands says something and walks quickly away. I start the cycle and ride away, laughing as I see his dumbstruck express in the side mirrors.
