Last night together

It’s been a week since the kitchen incident, Honey can’t talk to me without crying, Nick always looks at me with sad eyes, Ky hugs me every time he sees me and Chogan…he is ignoring me. Tomorrow is the battle, I can tell everyone wants to say something but doesn’t know how. The silence is defining; we sit at the table eating quietly, only the clinking of our silverware, break the silence.

Chogan growls, suddenly standing up and stalking out of the room, Nick stands to follow but I wave him back down. Standing, I take a deep breath and head to the lake, knowing that is where he will be.

I see his clothes in a pile next to the shore and take a seat next to them. His skin reflects the moon light as he swims laps. Putting my knees up to my chest, I rest my head on them, waiting for him to get done. Ten minutes later he steps of the lake, completely naked, I can’t help but stare. He is gorgeous.

“What do you want, Aura?” He asks coldly coming to stand in front of me.

“Can we talk…please?” I ask quietly trying to keep my eyes on his face.

He searches my face before nodding and slipping on his shorts. Sitting down next to me he waits for me to say something.

“I’m really sorry Chogan,” I say quietly.

“I should have told you after you agreed to let us help you, it’s just, I know how you feel about her and I couldn’t  bring myself to tell you.” Like a coward, I can’t bring myself to even look at him.

He gently pinches my chin and turns my head, “Aura, I don’t love her, I no longer have any feelings for her. All of the feelings I had left for her disappeared when you showed up. I feel in love with you the first time I saw you tied to that chair. I reacted so badly when you told me I had to kill her because I was just shocked and kinda hurt.”

“I know I’m sorry I…wait you love me?” I ask shocked.

He smiles and nods, “Yes I love you.”

He kisses me, leaning over, gently pushing me on my back. I run my hands through his silky hair, “I love you too.”

He lifts his head and stares at me, “You really love me?”

“Yes, with all of my heart.” I hug him tightly.

He buries his head in my hair, “Aura I don’t know if I can live without you. This month has been the worst of my life because I had to spend it without you.”

“This has been the worse month of my life too. I don’t want to leave you, Chogan, but this is my destiny.”

He nods and rests his forehead against mine, “We only have tonight…”

“Let’s make the most of it.” I kiss him deeply before grabbing his hand and pulling him back toward the house.

I wake the next morning, in Chogan’s arms, naked. I smile and stretch my slightly sore muscles, last night was my first time and I’m glad I waited until now. Sadness hits me hard, I don’t want to leave, I want to be with him. I sigh, I know my destiny and I know what will happen if I don’t kill the Shadow King.

There is a knock at the door, “Guys it’s time to get ready.” Honey says before leaving.

Chogan’s flutter open and settle on me, “I love you, please be careful today. Don’t let her get to you.” I kiss him gently before grabbing my clothes and throwing them on.

“I love you too…” He says as I leave the room.
