Chapter 17
Can’t a girl get some privacy!
The only Exception by Paramore
I wake to the sun streaming in through the window; I smile feeling much better and glance at Chogan. He looks adorable with a goofy smile on his face and his shirt pulled up revealing his stomach. His arm is around my waist and my head rests over his heart. After kissing his forehead, I wiggle out of his arms gently, in need of a shower.
I grab a pair of black skinny jeans, a red tank top and a black hoodie before heading into the bathroom. I set my clothes down and turn on the shower making the water extremely hot. Humming, I begin to remove my clothes; I can’t remember ever being this happy. I adjust the temperature before stepping into the shower. The hot water eases my muscles and I sigh and start to sing, something I haven’t done in a long while. After Marshal died I didn’t feel like singing much, I sing the song The only Exception by Paramore, and quickly finish washing my hair and body before getting out.
I step out of the shower and bite back a scream when I come face to face with Devon. He is tall, blond, and blue eyed, when he isn’t trying to trick you into thinking he is someone else. I grab a big, fluffy white towel and quickly wrap it around myself.
“Devon, what are you doing here?” I whisper fiercely.
He looks me up and down before looking me in the eye.
“I did tell you I was coming, love.” He says in his gorgeous British accent.
He would have been handsome if I didn’t know how crazy he was and sadly I had to find out the hard way that the crazy one’s don’t always look crazy.
I push him away and move closer to door and father away from him.
“Don’t come anywhere near me!”
“Are you afraid of me, love?” He smirks and slowly stalks toward me like a predictor stalks its prey.
I snort, “I fear nothing.”
“You should fear a lot of things ghosts, demons…things that go bump in the night.”
Raising an eyebrow, I sneer at him, “Why should I fear those things?”
“Because darling I’m what goes bump in the night.” He smirks, stilling making his way toward me slowly.
I roll my eyes, “Why are you here?”
“I want what belongs to me. YOU belong to me, I told you that you where mine. I treated you like a Princess and this is how you repay me, whoring around with that wolf.” He says growing angry.
I snort, “A Princess? You must be thinking of someone else, you tortured me and kept me prisoner!”
He rushes forward suddenly and grabs me by the neck slamming me against the wall.
“You brought that upon yourself. I offered you anything you could have ever wanted and you throw it back in my face, you needed to be punished.” He growls at me his eyes bright red.
I whimper as his fingers tighten around my neck, cutting off my air supply. Wrapping both of my hands around his wrist, I concentrate and try to think of fire. My hands start to glow white and grow hot, his skin sizzles and he howls tossing me away, hurling me into the mirror. It shatters and glass rains down on me.
“I’ll be back to claim you.” He hisses before disappearing.
Chogan bursts into the bathroom looking groggy; when he spots me on the floor bleeding, in a towel and surrounded by glass he rushes toward me.
“Stop!” I shout as he comes toward me.
He freezes, “What’s wrong?” He says looking alarmed.
“I don’t want you to step in the glass.” I look pointedly at his bare feet.
He rolls his eyes and continues toward me, gently picking me up bridal style, he carries me into the bedroom and sets me on the bed. I see Honey, Ky, and Nick crowd in the doorway. Chogan starts carefully picking glass out of my arms and legs as I explain what happened. I heal quickly and I am almost good as new by the time I am finished telling the story. Honey goes to the bathroom and sweeps up the glass so I can go and put on my clothes.
After getting dressed I step out of the bathroom to find everyone gone but Chogan, who sits on the bed waiting for me. Without a word he opens his arms and I walk into them, needing a little comfort. After my visit with Devon I keep getting flashbacks of my time spend with him. Some parts are fuzzy, hazed by pain and fear, I can’t ever remember being so afraid in my life. I use to beg him for sweet death, because although it is hard to kill chosen angels, it can be done. I feel a shiver run down my back as I remember. Chogan must have felt it because holds me tighter. We stay in each other’s arms for a little while longer before pulling apart.
“Let’s go met the others down stairs to talk about the game plan.” He says before grabbing my hand and leading me out of the room.
