Chapter 24

*Aura POV*

The Shadow King and I have been fighting relentlessly for I don’t know how long. We are both sporting minor cuts and bruises. Lunging at me sword raised, he brings his sword down on mine hard. I push him back and run toward him, taking a swing at his head. Ducking, he takes a jab at my stomach and I jump back.

“I must say I’m impressed, no one has ever survived this long in a battle with me before.” He chuckles.

“Well I’m not just anyone, my lord.” I smirk.

Suddenly, Honey, Ky, and Nick burst into the room.

“Where is Chogan?!” I ask and barely avoid being skewered.

Honey starts to look worried, “He isn’t here yet? We left him to fight Alana, but that was a while ago.”

The king laughs, “My Lana probably already disposed of that weak wolf.”

I growl and leap at him, “Never!”

He dodged my attack and taunts me, “Aww I heard you have a thing for wolf boy. Well you don’t have to worry; you’ll be joining him soon.”

“Or you will be joining her.” Chogan steps into the room.

I gasp and smile happily at him; the king growls and draws back his sword. Unable to block his attack in time all I can do is blink as his sword pierces my stomach.

The Shadow King laughs and pulls his sword out with a sickening suction sound. Honey scream, Ky holds her back and Nick holds back Chogan.

Looking at me triumphantly, he grabs my hair and brings my face close to his.

“You lose, sweetheart.” He whispers.

I chuckle and he draws me back to look at me, “No, my lord, you lose.”

I stab him in the stomach with my sword and when he drops me to hold his bleeding stomach, I take off his head. His head flies through the air, a shocked expression still on his face.

Suddenly weak, my sword slips from my fingers and clatters to the floor. Chogan runs toward me and catching my slack body before I hit the ground. Sinking to the ground, he cradles my body close to him.

“Aura, Aura baby, say something.” He begs, tears welling up in his eyes.

I reach out and stroke his cheek, “I love you, Chogan, please don’t cry, this is my destiny.”

Unable to keep my eyes open, I slowly sink into darkness.

“Aura! Aura! I love you, please don’t leave me!” I hear Chogan scream before everything goes dark and still
