We still had a couple hours until we reached Staellum and I was not looking forward to it. Along the way there was never a moment of silence. Theia rambled on and on about random thing, some heartbreakingly sad and some that made it impossible not to laugh. She poured out every tip, story, and fact she had in her head. One of which was her story of the eviction which left her with a scar that ran horizontally across her forearm. I now easily shared my stories despite my past indifference. Between our chatter we made sure to mark how far we were from the destination.

Unfortunately it took shorter than I thought and before I knew it we were at the border of Staellum. Once we got there Theia put her backpack down and I did the same.
She began the walkthrough, "They don't know we're here so it's going to be easy to get in."

I nodded and she continued, "You see the gap over there; it was originally made so the Staellums could let in small animals to use as food, while keeping the big dangerous ones out."
Theia pointed to a small patch where the buzzing fence and the ground didn't meet, both bending away from each other.

"Well that's our ticket in, from the looks of it you already know that the fence is electric but what you don't know is that with one touch were dead, that's why..."
She pulled out a small rectangular clip,

"...we have this, as soon as I attach it to the fence it will short circuit the area surrounding allowing us to slip through without being zapped. But we have to be quick because it only last a minute."
Theia gave a mischievous smile, who knew this girl had so many different smiles.

"We have to stash our stuff here because the extra weight will only slow us down." She said already making her way to the nearest bush. Before throwing our bags into the bush she pulled out another clip, which I'm guessing was so that we could get out. Not only that but she brought out our concealer coats.

She handed mine to me and we suited up then got ready to initiate the infiltration

She handed mine to me and we suited up then got ready to initiate the infiltration. Theia, without missing a beat, clipped the short circuiter and the fence went dead. The countdown began in my head, we had one minute.

"One, two, three..."

Theia went first; she got flat on her stomach and crawled through with no problem at all, then popped up on the other side.

"Twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three..."

I had to go now, I tried to copy the exactly what Theia did.

Thoughts of my burnt and fried flesh flashed through my mind. I forced the pictures to dissipate and kept going.

I finally made it to the other side; 8 seconds later the fence came back to life, threatening to electrocute any organism that dared to come in contact with it.

As planned we ran in the dead of night to an abandoned area that looked as if it were under construction. The tall breams put in place made perfect for concealment. Inch by inch we made our way deeper into Staellum. Walking around remaining inconspicuous, we collected information. We made it apparent not to stay in one place for too long. After about the fifteenth transition we found ourselves at some sort of clock tower. With the help of Theia's multiple skills we easily got in and found ourselves at the very top. We were too far to hear anything but far enough to let our guard down.

We sat peacefully and silently on the floor taking in the view of the street. Little by little the once over flowed dirt streets became deserted, every so often we would spot a man or woman step outside to discover the noise rapping at their door was the pet begging to be let in; they open I the door with sleep in their eyes, and just as quickly close the door to return to the bliss of sleep.

Suddenly I realized how sleepy I was, I craved to close my eyes even if it was just for a second. I looked over at Theia; I could tell how sleep deprived she was. Regardless of that, she didn't look like she was going to suggest sleeping.

If that was going to happen I was going to have to bring it up.

"Hey...Theia?"

"Huh, what is it?" her response was lagged, she was definitely sleepy.

"Well, I think we should get a little rest, I mean with the state we are in we wouldn't be able to function at maximum level when we need to."

"Yeah, your right. Plus I could use some sleep, but only for thirty minutes, Okay."

"I wouldn't dream of asking for more."

Simultaneously, we let out tired giggles and made the floor our bed then finally drifted into our own sleep realms. Before I fell completely under I couldn't help but wonder, maybe if things weren't so messed up we could've been friends, best friends even, who talked about boy troubles and what outfit to wear. Maybe we could have been friends that didn't have to feel the pain of dead parents or money issues. Yet again that is if things weren't so messed up. Then the world around me disappeared as I closed my eyes.
