soup because they were lifting spoons to their non-existent mouths. Past them through a back window you could see the afternoon forest. The last drawing was in the category of both actually.
The no faced fire couple fled into the forest, illuminating the night and leaving a trail of flames. This time every house and shop was intact, all but one that is. A single structure went up in flames causing nasty gases and smoke to disperse into the ether. I was beginning to feel light-headed and I wasn't sure if it was because of my hunger or the intense drawings. All of them were different, telling their own confusing story, and yet all of them were the same. All of them were beautifully frightening.
"Do you like them?" Titus asked snapping me back to reality.
"Oh, um yeah they're really cool." I said honestly. I wanted to ask who the faceless people were but I figured if they were faceless them he probably didn't know.
"How old are you anyways." I asked wondering if he was an extremely short sixteen year old.
"I'm ten, but I like to tell people I'm eleven. Maice says I shouldn't but I do it anyways. Oh, please don't tell him about that though." That's all it took, I started with a held back giggle that quickly transition into a full blown laugh.
"Don't worry, your secrets safe with me." I said finally containing my laughter.
"Anyways are your parents okay with you being here?" I asked absentmindedly wiping away the forming laughing tears
"It's okay I don't have parents."
"Wait, what. Last time I checked everyone had parents. Mine made sure to tell me the whole process and detailed at that. You know the story...When a mommy and daddy love each other very much blah blah blah happens then pop comes a baby."
"What do you mean you don't have parents?" I pressed on.
"Maice says he found me in the woods when I was three. I didn't have parents then and I don't have any now, But you don't have to worry because Maice is my family," he said smiling innocently unaware that he just reveals something incredibly sad. The best thing to do for now was to leave it alone or else I was going to be dealing with a very depressed ten year old.
"Sooo, what do you and Maice usually do when you get together?" I inquired with hope that I would change the subject.
"Umm... we do a lot things, sometimes he takes me out with him when he has a job to do. While we're at home we play games, and he draws with me, and read with me, and even though he sometimes teases me he's always there when I need him."
"He sounds like a great big brother, I think you're really lucky to have him," I said bringing my knees up to my chest.
"Yeah he is, but I like to think he's the lucky one."
"And why is that?" I tilted my head and gave him the Oh-really look.
"Because I'm always there to give him relationship advice. Something he really needs since he hasn't ever had a girlfriend," Titus said grinning ear to ear.
"Oh so you're a relationship expert now." I joked
"Mmhm and in my expert opinion I think that you and Maice should be boyfriend and girlfriend." He wiggle his eyebrows.
"Okay I don't think that's such I good idea Mr. Love-Expert," I stammered with flushed cheeks.
"Why not?" he asked earnestly. "You're pretty, you two are almost the same age and you both aren't in a relationship right. So what's the problem?"
