As we left Mr.Bersen place the old kook winked at me and I don't know what type of signal he was trying to send, but knowing him it probably wasn't a good one. I brushed him off and tried to distance myself from the thought of his signal but accidently left Zayla behind. After two minutes I put myself into sync with her so that we were walking at the same pace. We walked in comfortable silence as I calculated how long it would take before we reached Titus. Part of me want to get to him already and the other part wanted to walk with Zayla forever.

"Wait...what? I meant because it was such a nice day out... yeah, that it."

Only a couple seconds of silence after the thought passed, I was suddenly bombarded with greetings. I realized that we had just walked into the part of Saldom that Titus and I spent most of our free time. Most of the greetings were okay, just a simple "Hello." and "How are you?", but when Mrs. Nolda greeted me with a threat of broken knee caps if I didn't come by, I made a mental note to come visit because knowing her, she might actually do it. I was all smiles and waves up until some guy walked by and greeted Zayla. I didn't have a problem with anyone greeting her, I mean it was a show of politeness right. What bothered me was what he said and the way his eyes looked over her like she was prey. I haven't known Zayla for long but one thing I do know is that the last thing she is prey, actually if anything she would be the predator. She's strong, kind (at times), funny, smart, and if anything she was a fighter. Irritation mixed with drops of anger ran through my veins. What happened next was totally unexpected in my part. My mind went blank and my body moved on its own. I don't know why but I put my hand around Zayla.

"What am I doing!!!"

Embarrassment and confusion line the walls of my stomach, shaking and crushing my insides. I didn't dare let it show though, instead I stared off the guy. He stared back for a while then shifted his gaze to the ground and walked away. He was gone for a good 15 seconds, before I dropped my hand, way too long. My nerves weren't completely settled yet when Zayla asked,

"Did you know that guy back there?"

I meant to simply say no but when it came out it sounded rough with a spot of anger. Zayla fell silent and I immediately regretted opening my mouth. We continued where we left off, going to pick up Titus. If she was mad at the way I acted then she sure wasn't showing it, but still I could feel that the air between us had become heavier. My eyes darted around the familiar setting for something that would bring me redemption. Then I saw it, I stopped immediately and couldn't help but smile.

"Wait here," I beamed before sprinting off to the Mellsa bar stand.

"Hey Roje, let me get four Mellsa bars." And like normal business, I gave him eighty dalz then he gave me the bars. I took three and left on in front of him.

"Enjoy," I called over my shoulder, he smiled wide in response.

Whenever Titus was ever down or mad at me (or pretending to be) I would get some bars and everything would be good again. As I walked back I prayed that the same would apply here.
