My mind fled from the scene and flew to the day of the eviction. It was that day that everything was a blur yet the memory was crystal clear. It was only two weeks after Zuman passed away; a new leader was in the process of being chosen.

I remember the morning of that day; all schools had been temporarily closed due to the circumstances, leaving mom jobless for the moment. Titus and mom were still sleeping but I woke up early that day because I wanted to get all of my chores over with. By the time I was done, it was early in the afternoon. Dad also had the day off and was fixing the hole in the wall from when one of his weapon training exercises went wrong. Mom was now in the kitchen cooking lunch and asked me if I was okay with turkey sandwiches and fruit. Instead of happily complying, I complained that I wanted pasta.

"We can have that tomorrow," she said, but I was persistent. We finally came to the agreement that we would have it when she said but in turn she had to buy it right away.

"I'll be back in thirty minutes, be good," she said as she walked out the door. Ten minutes later I heard shouting outside, at first I paid it no mind because recently it had become common to see people quarrelling about the case of the stolen jewel. Unlike others, my family never took a side and whole-heartedly believed that it was a misunderstanding.

The shouts turned into fearful screams and my senses went on alert. I stepped outside to see what the commotion was about. I was immediately bombarded by an intertwining mass of frightened faces. Standing still and made immobile by shock was the familiar face of our neighbor.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"The clashers...the clashers from Kavus, they were spotted at the edge of Saldom a while ago, they must be close now," she said, looking around frantically then continued. "They say we must all leave or be killed. Listen to me, if you value your life then I suggest you get you family and run."

Then she joined the flock of running people and melted into the crowd. I knew there was no time to waste, I ran inside yelling at the top of my lungs.

"Dad, come on, we have to wake up— "

"I know, I heard just now, I'll take care of everything here. You go find you mother and be careful okay."

I turned then sprinted out of the house and into the frenzied mob. I pushed and shoved until I was in an area less concentrated. I looked around hoping that she has already heard of the news and was headed home, sadly she was nowhere to be found. I kept walking, stopping people and asking they saw her.

Finally, I spotted her, I signed in relief and made my way towards her but as I got closer I noticed she had her arms spread out in defense. Behind her was a red haired girl I didn't recognize and in front of her was a tall man with an ice cold stare, holding a raised illume-blade.
